Back in Florida!
The marketing droid is painful to listen to, but he does manage to get all 1156 marketing terms into this one video!
Beyond that, my point is listen to the whole "cloud" concept. Esp #2 and #3

Makes me want to hoard as many current Dahua devices as possible prior to any new UI/cloud system being introduced, likely later in 2025

But for those who think having Alexa and Siri and having your toilet and toaster all be able to talk and coordinate with your alarm and video surveillance system is awesome, the future is for you!

I tried to watch but found myself distracted too much by that dude's over-stressed belt and crooked buckle. :idk:

I have said this before, but ever sense the "ban" it appears they are changing their marketing strategy to the consumer base and trying to tap into that market and thus all the less than ideal MP/sensor ratios and TIOC red/blue flashing lights stuff.

And that is fine if they want to go down that path, but please continue to provide better gear for those of us wanting that and not force us to have to use cloud-based gear!

I made it to 1:34 of the video and said to myself: "This is :poop:". That's all I could take.

Long stream of big words and marketing bullshit.. Nothing specific or significant..

DoLynk care is a thing from 2-3 years now.. It's mobile app (and website) for installers. To get full access You must be validated as installer or integrator by Dahua. In my country You do this by going to any Dahua installer training.

DoLynk allows to list all devices from all Yours clients / networks and do basic operations (get device status, change passwords)... it's mostly cloud / mobile version of old Dahua Config Tool.
It have more functionality for Dahua network switches that for cameras or NVRs.

in this demo there is nothing for consumer / end-users .
All presented tools & functionalities are only for installers & integrators.

For context:
Ubiquiti released Unifi Protect AI Key - small AI device which 'reanalyze' all video footage from all AI enabled Unifi cameras...
Unifi cams do basic human/car motion detection, then AI key reanalyze those events and do full AI (like ChatGPT) description what happens on that videos...

like 'older man in blue hat, white t-shirt and jeans walked down a hallway and opened door on the left'..
this can even do audio transcription what it was said by those person..

everything accessible by very easy to use web panel & mobile app.. with very easy AI Search function...

So are they going from local based web browser GUI to cloud based setups and will they actually rewrite code or will it be the hodgepodge like we see now where they claim full compatibility with new browsers, yet a few settings for some cameras still need Internet Explorer?

Are you implying future systems will need internet/cloud-based connections in order to set up a camera?

Are you implying that this direction is going to make it harder for the non-installer (folks like us) to use their stuff moving forward?

Nothing from that...

all old camera & NVR web interfaces (and limitations, like plugin bullshit) stays as it is now...
all very bad DMSS/SmartPSS interface / capabilities / implementation stays as it is now..
all problems & limitations about cloud & remote connectivity stays as it is now..

all the big words from this presentation were marketing bullshit...
plus a few not so important functions in DoLynk app/platform, which is mostly available for installers..

there are rumours that maybe Dahua will start to offer cloud storage for cameras as subscriptions - like Imou doing now...
But I don't think it will be any form of revolution..

ps. I hear this bullshit about DoLynk & DSS Pro for years from Dahua reps... All normal problems & limitations stays as they were.. Nothing change...

Yeah, I am kinda shocked they haven't gone to a subscription model yet.

Most here hate that type of stuff, but they are leaving a lot of money on the table.

And what do we move to if that happens!

So basically we stand a better chance of the 4/3 sensor than this in the next two years :lmao:

Even if Dahua will start to offer cloud storage as subscription, nothing will change for us..
All classic access (Dahua private protocol, RTSP, ONVIF, NVRs, DMSS, SmartPSS) will stay as they are now..

The big problem is that all camera & NVRs products + remote software from both Dahua & HIK are based on very old almost 20 years old software platform.
Platform which were created by people who don't work for Dahua & HIK any more..

it's very obscure code base, around a few millions of code lines with very obscure documentation...
was developed by many independent teams over the past 20 years.
today no one knows/understands how it works inside at all levels..
all changes/new features are made around - adding them as something external (like external platforms)..

no one dares to refactor the old code - because it can explode at any moment.
situation very similar to software platforms used by Air lines or old big banks.

I worked for 2 large corporations, and the quarterly employee rah rah meeting were the same thing. What really triggered me was the statements that the corporation must grow xx% per year. Many of the lower level grunts could see how after a enough years the company would be bigger than the world's economy, but the geniuses at the top preached it like they truly believed it.

This was my concern. It obviously what they're hinting at.

Agree as long as they don’t force the UI from your equipment into the cloud. (Future equipment obviously)
