After buying and have a quick hair pulling (and I don't have much left anyway!) ;) session learning how to set up a Hikvision camera,
I've finally got around to physically installing it, and have more of a "play" with the software.

I have a pretty basic query here, and I'm guessing there is a good answer, so here goes :)

Looking at both the Web Interface and the Hik-connect apps on both my PC and smartphone.
And also the iVMS-4200 client on both also.

I am struck by feeling the Web Interface and Hik-Connect on the phone are much better/nicer/fuller experiences than using the iVMS client.
Seems to be way more options for setting up the device, the alerts actually show thumbnail images.

I'm not 100% sure why I'd use the iVMS app at the moment. So I guess I'm missing something here.
Can someone please educate me on what the benefits are?

Thank you in advance :)

Ok, scrub what I said about less adjustments.
I just found the maintenance/management area which pulls up the same, and even more than the web interface does.

Would still like to get a general understanding of pro's/cons of either.
Much appreciated.,

Rather than start a new thread for a related question, I'd like to steer my post in a slightly different direction.

The removal of Hik-Connect on the play store (I have downloaded it myself directly using the less secure apk method)
Combined with the appalling iVMS-4200 android client.

Hik-Connect works fine on my Android 10 Pixel phone.
iVMS-4200 is very iffy indeed, finding then not finding a camera, then all sort of things weird.

Reading the reviews on the play store for this. My god, I've never seen an app with such a mass of 1 star disgusted reviews.

What do you think is going to happen? Are Hikvision going to get into gear and sort this app out?
Amazing hardware deserves better than this in 2020.
