Web login not accepted from Chrome browser and Android app

I've just installed BI v4 on a Windows 2008 server. I've created one user id, with admin privilege. I can open and login to the BI web interface on the local server, but when I connect from a Chrome browser on a Windows 10 laptop on the same LAN I can't get past the login page (entering the exact same login credentials). When I click the Login button the login page simply gets re-displayed, with the User and Password fields reset. If I use the Edge browser on the same laptop it works fine. I also can't connect using the Android app on the same LAN (I get "Unable to Connect").
Any idea why I can connect from the Edge browser, but not from a Chrome browser or the Android app?
