What are the differences between those two cameras?

Both seem to show same model but each has a different price (both sold at Amazon):

I am thinking about getting one for backyard replacing the dome camera which seems to attract insects; and insects leaving some deposits which I have to get the ladder and clean the dome twice a year. The intent is to capture any activity that may occur in the backyard, not necessarily identify. With 180 degree it should provide side to side coverage but I see that it does not have IR led instead it has warm white led. I am not sure whether brightness can be adjusted (assume it can be turned off - I do have landscape lighting though I don't leave it on all night).

Thanks.

Yes the camera has white LEDs no IR and cant see IR. So you'd need to have the LEDs on all night

They can be dimmed yes. Cut illumination spec in 1/2 for real usable distance

Cut the distance at least in half depending on other light you may have.

Looking at the camera it will look like a couple of cellphone lights on - bright looking straight at, but looking from the camera out won't be very bright.

See this thread for some examples - different camera, but basically the same in terms of lights.

Thanks for the link to that thread. Seems a bit bright. I guess that's the trend going forward with new IP cameras?

That's not too bad. The camera would be positioned kind of 2-story high and pointing down to the patio area and yard; and like I said earlier I have landscape lighting I leave on until midnight or so. Any issues with attracting insects and them leaving some deposits like they do with dome camera?

Im sure they will attract bugs in one way or another. they don't crawl on the camera though....don't seem to remember them being impossible. I didn't get this back online until fall.

Did you have a different camera prior to getting 180-degree camera? Are you satisfied with it?

No I had no camera there, and now nobody wants to park in front of my house. Passive deterrance.

:) That is what I was thinking - whoever might want to climb over the fence would think twice seeing those leds (yes, it has happened twice since I installed dome camera and recorded the events).

General consensus is the the 180 makes a great OVERVIEW camera, but does not do real well with IDENTIFY in most installs as most people install higher on 2nd story so all the IDENTIFY distance is lost in the vertical.

With @Flintstone61 install height, he will have a great chance of IDENTIFY for anyone 15ish feet out.

As long as you manage your expectations about the 180 it is a great camera. I have one on each side of the house. They are used as spotter cameras for the PTZ and I have other cameras optically zoomed in to pinch points.

But the 180 is a great overview camera.

If you create a Zone A and B for the left camera 50/50 split and C and D zone for right camera and and use object detection you can get stuff( cars and dog walkers in my case)

Yes, I don't expect this camera to be used to identify but to capture any activity that occur in the backyard area given the location where the camera would be (under the soffit which is 2-story high and it's the only place I can run CAT6 ethernet to) though there is a possibility I can run CAT6 from the basement to outside but would need to make use of metal tube or something similar to protect the cable if I want it to be installed like @Flintstone61's setup. It would be the patio area and I would need to get the accessory to allow for wall-mount I believe.

@Flintstone61 what height do you have the camera at?
