What do people typically do to secure their NVR from intruders?

So I'll be running the wires for my cameras soon and and trying to figure out the best place to install the NVR. I am leaning toward a bedroom closet maybe mounting on the inside wall above the door. What do people typically do to secure their NVR from intruders?
 
My dahua NVR is too loud to put near where I sleep. Some folks change out the fan for a quieter one. Me, the garage is the location.
 
I also use SD cards in the cams as second storage. I mounted mine hidden into my 19" rack. You'll have to demount a lot of stuff to get to it. Hopefully won't have any issues with it
I got all internal PoE ports attached with patch cables going to the front, also USB extension and HDMI cable. So I don't have to get to it.
 
For the people using sd cards as a means of backup, do you use a second stream on a lower resolution?
 
I'm using the mainstream, but only on events, not 24/7. Maybe I'll also get a second NVR. I just ordered another NVR for a colleague and will test the cluster functionality then.
