Hey all
I have a new camera that is a Hikvision 2CD2387G2H-LISU/SL that replaced an older one in this same location.
For the moment I dont have one on the porch but will install one soonish but for now I want to try and capture events both on the far right ( which leads up to my side gate) and the bottom left and middle left which is my porch and front door
So far I am not getting reliable detection on either of those regions and its probably because the tree's are blocking some of the view and the left is very small area

It does work reliably if I walk on the lawn

In my tests tonight ( all at night with IR and white light on when detecting a human ) Its been working maybe 25% of the time if I walk up to the side gate and on my porch. 100% of the time if I walk on the lawn

You can see me pretty clearly though in the below picture so I expected the motion to work much better then what I have experienced in my tests

I use Blue Iris for all records and regular alerts but Ive been using the in-built camera detection to trigger the flashing light and in-built alarm ( I got it working much more reliably through the in-built camera software and I could never get that function to work in BI5)

What things or detection methods would you suggest me do ( after I trim the tree's ) I have tried regular motion detection with specific zones and also line crossing but this did not really improve the detection

With the tree pruning I would just trim the width and not the height. And once I get another camera for the porch I will turn this camera more to face the right hand side

That tree is probably killing your line crossing detection. Remove it, play around with the settings (min/max, sensitivity, etc) and you'll be happy with it. Also curious why you haven't tried intrusion detection? Much more reliable than motion in my experience.

I tried both and was playing around with the settings

Remove the tree? Yeh Mrs would love me for that
