What's the setting that enables the camera to see at night?

One of my camera is transmitting a near pitch-black scene at night, while another camera of the same make transmits an IR-like image.
(I'm not sure it's IR, but it looks like it, all black and white.)

What do you have to turn on to enable the other camera to see at night?

Depends on the camera how it's done but generally you need two things:

• There will be day/night switch to put the camera into night/IR mode and move the IR filter into place (can be manually selected, automatic based on light sensor, scheduled, etc.)
• There will be a switch to turn on/off the IR light (can be manual, auto, some settings for power/distance, etc.).

So the cam in night mode and IR on to light the scene.

Assuming that's done, there are other image and exposure settings that can affect the image. e.g, If you have an exposure setting that's too high/fast, the image will be very dark even with IR working.
