When does the camera change FPS?

Hi all.

I got a Dahua SD2A500NB-GNY-A-PV and I noticed that the video clips recorded onto the SDHC card have different FPS, either 25 or 12. The ones recorded at daytime tend to be 25 fps and the ones recorded at night tend to be 12 fps.

I thought the switch must be when the camera goes from the color mode to B/W mode when it gets dark enough, but I recently found a clip recorded in color, when there was still enough light out, which also ran at 12 fps. So now I'm thinking it's something else that causes the camera to record in 12 fps instead of 25? I don't mind the change in FPS, I'm just trying to understand at which point it switches. Anyone knows?

You are running a smart or AI codec and it will reduce the FPS and possibly the shutter speed as the light goes down or if there is no motion.

Use General codec or None if you want FPS to stay the same.
