Why does my Lorex NVR randomly drop the resolution in recorded video?

The particular camera used in this video is Dahua but it’s also happening on my Lorex cameras.

In the video, please pay attention to the text and also the vehicle’s name badge. You can see how the resolution changes. I have cropped the screen recording from my phone. This is happening in the Lorex App video playback without me touching anything as I watch. It “loads playback” again by itself as time progresses. But the resolution changes.

Very odd

What are you viewing that on?
On the NVR playback page?
On your phone with app?

Was there movement in the larger scene? It would be helpful to see the whole scene

Are you using IVS or SMD, or plain old MD on that camera? What triggers are you using for that to detect motion?

Is ROI disabled ? Are you sure?

Are you running h.265?

It acts to me like two recordings as most Dahua NVRs use. One for full time and another clip for an event based on what you’re using to trigger events

Is this video from the mobile app? Which Lorex app are you using? Is it Lorex Cloud?

My guess is that there is something missing in this video. If you playback and just as soon as it switches to where it says loading playback and pause it. Then press play again the picture never returns and wondering if that is just a way this product acts while it is loading playback off an event playback.. Meaning event happens and the user clicks the event. It loads a Picture to show a pre screen of the event, Then event loads. Video isn;'t there.. again if you pause the picture just as the words appear loading and screen goes black there is nothing that plays after that it is just a splash screen or my guess. I don't have a Lorex NVR or IP camera only Lorex Doorbell Camera but it don't act like that..

If you watch a timeline segment with an event in it on SmartPSS you get a very similar thing.
Scene is running smooth and the second it hits the event marker, there’s a quick (I’m gonna say 1/30 ) of a black out before the event clip plays.

When you download it they’re spliced together seamlessly of course.

I think it’s an event coupled with something else like ROI, VBR, H.265 ? that is diverting resources to the trigger of the event and going low res on the part of the scene that’s not priority.
