Hello,

I set up a camera system 10 years ago running blue iris monitoring a house. I originally had foscam cameras but have replaced most with hikvision.

I have one last 1mp foscam turret camera left in place monitoring the front door. It is mounted above the door to the left.

I want to replace it and am looking for something wide angle. One shop recommended a dual cam panoramic model but I'm not sure. Would I be better with a fish eye?

Without seeing what the view is, one can't really answer this question.

What are you expecting to accomplish? Just an overview cam to see the whole area? Do you want to be able to ID people's faces? At what distances?

I would like to be able to see the area, see when parcels are dropped off and ID faces. The distance would never be more than 10 feet or so.

I have attached a picture of the current cam footage. As you can see, a wider field of view would be useful

I see wall on the left and right edges of that image and a wider field of view would simply give you more wall which could be problematic if you have to go to infrared at night.

You should rotate camera 90 degrees and use corridor mode - to increase not width but height coverage...

mount camera lower to record faces..

plus use modern camera with WDR - to resolve brightness difference problem and over expose image in upper fragment...
