I am trying to decide between two PCs to run Blue Iris and Home Assistant on. One has Windows 11 Home, the other has Windows 11 Pro. Is Home sufficient, or should I go with Pro? And why?

If you like one PC more than the other, it is a relatively inexpensive upgrade to purchase a code to update from Windows Home to Windows Pro.

That’s what I was thinking. The pc that I am leaning towards is the one with Windows Home. An upgrade from Microsoft is $99. What do you mean by purchasing a code? I see people selling codes very cheaply but I’m leery of them.

I have successfully purchased two codes through a tech web site called Neowin. At the top of the page is a link to Deals. Each time it was $29.95 and I felt it was worth the risk.

Both machines upgraded without a hitch and both have been receiving Windows updates and etc. Both just received Win 11 Pro 24H2 this past week.

It is not something you can purchase and set on. Don't buy in advance of owning the machine, the codes have an expiration date. Push the purchase button and use the code within a short time frame.
