Hello,

I'm looking for a wireless NVR and cameras that don't require an internet connection for you to be able to view the cameras from an app. I bought a Jennov J-series NVR and cameras and everything was perfect except for the fact that you can't connect via the app directly to the NVR. You have to have an internet connection as it streams from the internet.
I had a look at a few other apps and they all want me to log in (except XMeye, but I can't seem to find any NVRs that are compatible with this). I coulld get the rtsp stream for each camera but that doesn't give me any PTZ control. The only other way was to use internet explorer which I obviously can't get on my phone.

I would prefer one which has PTZ control too. The Jennov one also allowed the cameras to connect to each other instead of the NVR to boost their range, so something like that would be really good too.

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Thanks

You are not going to find many wireless camera fans here.

Wifi and security cameras simply don't go together.

Wifi and internet can be two separate things, but many confuse them and make them one in the same. A system can be set up to be wifi but not connect to the internet.

Are you for sure it actually needs an internet connection?

I am not familiar with that particular brand, but yes many systems are cloud/internet based, but many with an NVR are not. Usually if the system works with Internet Explorer means it doesn't need internet.

Internet Explorer works without an internet connection - just because it is a browser doesn't mean it needs internet.

For example, many here are Dahua OEM users. We use Internet Explorer to make changes to the camera. We use the app to view the NVR but the NVR is not connected to the internet. It can be connected to a wifi router but not be given internet access.

But if you are wanting a system that makes changes in the app, that is going to be a cloud-based system which then obviously does need the internet.
