XVR connected to NVR - IVS rules

Have an XVR which has to analogue cameras connected to it. The XVR is then connected to the NVR so that it can all be mixed with IP and non-IP cameras (the XVR cameras appear as channels on the NVR).

So the question is, if there are IVS rules on the XVR for an analogue camera, will the XVR pass those triggers to the NVR, or does the NVR have to have its own IVS rules?

I would t think it wouldnt. Analog rules on the XVR are processed by the XVR. All you are doing is sending the video output over to the NVR.
(I didn’t know that would work with XVR channels appearing as channels in the NVR? Can you show a pic of the NVR camera registration page? I would think it would just show the XVR not the individual XVR channels as channels on the NVR)

Tested it and the NVR does pick up the IVS rules from the XVR (as if it was IVS by Camera). Dahua rep told me that XVR and NVR can create an analogue/IP hybrid system. Don’t install an HD in the XVR and let the NVR do everything. The XVR shows as its IP address and the associated channel from the XVR.

this way (XVR to NVR) is ok and will work... NVR will treat XVR channels as normal IP cams with all IP features...

reverse way (anything IP to XVR) is big no no. XVR usually supports some extra IP channels, but feature wise they only accept video/audio stream.. Usually there is no support for any event triggers (classic or AI) from IP channels.

In latest firmware release for actual higher XVR models I found information that they will start accept SMD feature from IP channels. Big revolution, which show how bad XVR's alone are for mixed hybrid enverioments.

Yes but limited and removed any XVR AI on the analog cameras when you add IP cams

Yeah seem to remember there was a limit of 3-4 AI rules on the XVR to begin with and when you go to add an IP cam it flashes a warning popup saying something like Advanced features or something will be disabled for analog channels

It sounds like theyre saying this combo NVR/XVR allows AI rules across analog channels

Yeah also depends on what type of AI you use as well I think.

So we have been doing integration packs upgrading old Hikvision system with dahuas new AI NVRs.

Example existing 6 IP cameras Hikvision, client wants new AI features.

Replace Hikvision NVR with 4 series AI (EI international) and replace two cameras with new TiOCs.

The NVR can support AI features for two cameras with IVS rules so they basically get two dumb cameras running smarts and then the two new cameras running on camera AI. Fantastic little upgrade.

Thing is thought I think these AI NVRs can support SMD over all channels using the NVR AI, it's not my preferred method so we don't do it and when I first tested it if you adjusted the motion zone then the NVR ignored it and still picked up the entire image.

Good upgrades.
Yeah as far as I can tell, SMD ignores any MD zones and uses the entire FOV
