Z-Stick Z-Wave USB stick Controller

Finally decided to try some home automation with the $44 Z-Stick USB Z-Wave Controller

I wanted to be able to power my outdoor Pier lights remotely, and the $35 GE Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control Outdoor Module fit the bill.

Installed inControl HA software on my PC along with the z-stick USB drivers, and it's wasn't to complicated to get working.

Time to buy some more modules and automate the place....

Update 1/14: The z-Stick and inControlHA software works great. Its awesome to be able to control devices 100 miles away from a phone.

I have had a similar system running like that for at least 8 years now. It is still working fine and I have not seen the need to upgrade it to something else - yet

I use it to control our whole house fans, outdoor lighting, water heater recirculator, turn off garage door opener at night for security reasons, etc
