Zoom Testing DH-SD59430U-HNI, 30x Optical, 16x Digital

I show both optical and digital zoom in this test. The zoom indicator in the top right of the screen only shows optical zoom. Once it reaches 30 and the image is still being zoomed, then digital zoom is being used. This Dahua 4MP camera has a resolution of 2592(H) x 1520(V).

It is interesting to see the amount of atmospheric distortion at the freeway signs. I imagine even with a 100x optical zoom, the images would still have that same "looking over a hot BBQ" effect that makes identification difficult or impossible.

I have the Nikon P900 with the 82x and at max optical, there is so much heat/wavy distortion, it takes away some of the fun.
