Sad and tragic, but the technology is invaluable to those wondering if their homes are still intact. I guess there are whole forums dedicated to security cam footage for those that want to see if their homes are still standing.

I am Canadian and a friends aunt has her house burning on her cameras as well in Fort Mac, very sad. We have fires all around our cabin right now and I hope they can control the fires.

That would definitely suck to watch that on your own video camera.
Another resident called their ISP and asked them to ping their modem to see if it would respond. Turns out it did.
