What 3rd party integration can detect loitering with reasonable false alarms rate?

Hi,

I've found around 17 integrations that provides video analytics on Milestone's page. Integration's basic description doesn't mention details on how loitering is detected so I need help from those who're familiar with those integrations.

I'm looking for a solution for my single camera that I need to monitor loitering around my apartment's entrance door.
I would like to understand what are alternatives to AXIS within Milestone XProtect (Express).

Please advise.

So far simplest solution is from Hikvision that considers all objects as loitering that stays in the area longer than for 10s (0s-10s setting). I think such logic will result in unreasonable amount of false alarms, as it takes longer than 10s to come to the door, find a key, open the door, enter, close the door.
On the other hand, AXIS has more settings that defines what is treated as loitering, so it looks like it should result in less false alarms.

Bosch IVA does good loitering detection. The key is object detection and that is something Hikvision is incredibly poor at.
Avigilon cameras also do excellent human detection once they finish training. I've never played with Axis analytics so I can't comment on those.

Those are stand-alone solutions that are not integrated into XProtect, right? Ok, I'll note that as I'm looking beyond Milestone as well.

Still, if smb can recommend on XProtect's integration, pls post!

They are analytics built into the camera. They should raise an event in XProtect if it's configured right. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "integrated" but it's not important anyway.

In the thread I've asked for recommendation on what "Third-party solutions" (integrations) for XProtect from https://www.milestonesys.com/solution-partners/solution-finder/?fp=XProtect Express&fst=Video Analytics&fr=&ffs= page are "worth" considering from loitering detection perspective (mainly software-based). I've expected that if I use those, it should not limit me to a specific camera manufacturer (at great extent).

If I got you right, you're talking about camera-based brand-specific approach that doesn't probably need any of those analytics 3rd party integration form that page. And most likely can act (email alerts) even without XProtect.

For the stuff on the integration page, I have lot of experience with VideoIQ. Great product, but $$$. The rest are kinda samey.

Yes, the cameras I was referring to are analytic in the camera. The Avigilon uses VideoIQ in the camera after they bought them. Again, server based analytics are great, just cpu intensive and cost real money.

Re: What 3rd party integration can detect loitering with reasonable false alarms rate

probably, an off-top for the thread, but anyway - I've seen positive feedback on Avigilon's self-learning analytics. So I've found one used Avigilon camera (prev-gen H3 platform). Do you know if those are also "smart" in loitering detection?
reason why I'm concerned is that in H3 discontinuation note they said
The transition to H4 Cameras, Bullets and Domes will offer: High-definition resolutions from 1 MP to 4K Ultra HD (8 MP) Self-Learning Video Analytics for accurate object detection and alert for a higher level of protection in all models Avigilons patented High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) 2.0
that sounds for me like H3 was dumb in that area.

Don't know. I have a h3 here in a box, I'll try and get it plugged in and configured up this week and have a look.

I'll appreciate that! Thank you.

Though price for used 5m h3 that I've found locally is more or less OK, I wouldn't like to buy smth that will not give me what I'm looking for. Avigilons are pretty rare in our area so buying smth rare limits non-professional person to deal with it on it's own (using forums, etc) :)

Looks like I've found smth. If you have one of H3A's, then with high probability you have self-learning. If you own older H3 (without A), then it seems there is no analytics. Here Avigilon talks about it
It may be that H3 was manufactured before Avigilon acquired VideoIQ. And H3A happened afterwards.

It will be a surprise if H3 also have it, but I doubt.

Yeah, you are right. It's an older H3, so no self-learning Analytic. I'll have a chat with the local distributor and see if I can grab a newer camera to test.
