In a 30x starlight dahua. Is it better to have the dome? Does it affect the night vision. I live in a area with lots of snow.

For most situations I think the black face is better.

I don't believe you will find any quality PTZ camera manufacturer putting infrared LEDs behind a bubble dome, so night vision is actually much worse with a dome.

But also bubble domes somewhat limit your ability to look at or above the horizon.

SD59430U is a 4 megapixel non-starlight model. The 2 megapixel starlight model will be much better at night vision: SD59230U-HNI

I get massive amounts of snow where I live. Figured it would be a better choice. But didn't want it to affect night vision

SD65F230F is a bubble dome with no infrared LEDs. Although it has what is perhaps the best low light sensor Dahua uses. For the best night vision I suspect you would be better off with

SD6AL230F-HNI

or

SD6AE230F-HNI

as they use the same sensor but have IR LEDs.

Massive amounts of snow aren't a problem for either camera, dome or not. Though I will say my dad has one of the white-face PTZs (older 2MP, not starlight) high up on a radio tower and sometimes blowing snow manages to stick to the protective glass in front of the lens and block its vision for a little while. It is not very common.
