yes, it does great at adapting to people walking up to it as you can see in my demo video; much better than most really.. as much as I love my MiniPTZ at the front door after seeing how much better that alone worked I knew I needed a starlight PTZ at the front door.
Infact these Eco Starlights are better at that scenario than the Ultra Starlight is, maybe too sensitive for its own good with people walking up close or thats something the Starvis Back illumination just copes with alot better.

In your low light demo was there y lighting other than the it? I didn't see if the porch light was on. I've got a light at the front door so it's not bright but definitely not pitch dark.

note this is PAL firmware; if you've got a NTSC this will make it a pal.. Ive installed it on both my turret and bullet w/no problems.. YMMV, proceed at your own risk.

Let us know if you notice any IQ improvement, hate to mess with camera firmware unless I know it's going to make the images better or something, especially if it makes things worse lol.

@EMPIRETECANDY can get you a NTSC version or firmware if you'd like; but it matters not for digital cameras unless it has an analogue output; and this camera does not

just buy it from @EMPIRETECANDY through the forums using Paypal..
AliExpress increased scrutiny on first time buyers; Ive never had to go through such hoops but I been buying from Ali for a good while and had a reputation before they enacted these policies.. I'd only be willing to provide a largely redacted ID and shot of the card, just to show they are the same names and shipping addresses.. if that was not enough then they can go fuck them selves.

hey @cosmo , how long did it take you to find out it was rejected? I just placed on order this morning on @EMPIRETECANDY 's aliexpress store this morning and my order status is "payment being verified". Wondering how long before if I hear the same. I will be going the paypal route too if it gets rejected on aliexpress.

Happened to me and at least several others. I just walked away from AliExpress. I've had one transaction with EMPIRETECANDY that went well. You just tell him what you want, ship-to address, and your paypal address. He sends an invoice to your paypal account, you pay it, and the stuff shows up maybe a week later. Another alternative is that some of what you're looking for could possibly be on ebay at a similar price to Ali.
Payment went though when I made my first AliExpress order for a HDW5231R-Z early January after finding this thread. I paid with AMEX and AliExpress redirecting to an AMEX domain for verification, though AMEX redirected back to AliExpress without requiring any input, so might depend on your credit card provider too?

yeah if you have Verified by Visa or Amex Verification thats external I believe you'll have better luck on ALiExpress, from then on you can probably use your checking debit card on the same account as long as your shipping/billing info dont change.
Since they are an exporter they have little recourse to go after fraud and needa protect the sellers, I kinda get it but I'd rather western union some cash before giving anyone anywhere all my personal info and account data.

I'm replacing some 4MP @ $100 cameras I bought from Amazon last year. Turned out they were so-so during the day and totally useless at night
The HDW5231R-Z on the other hand does color, at a higher shutter speed, in the same lighting conditions as my old one.

I'm not familiar with these cameras as a I have zmodo nvr and some foscams. Is this the best camera to use with blue iris and do I need a PoE switch to use it?
I placed the order yesterday. It went through Verified by Visa. Got the payment pending email. Soon after, got the payment went through email. This morning, got the rejection email.
nayr, at the risk of sounding like a complete noob, how exactly do I do that?
I've tried to start a conversation through this forum with @EMPIRETECANDY weeks ago about paying. No reply. I started another one this morning after I got the rejection email. And I posted a message to Andy on Ali Express. It's 9:55am in Shenzen right now so I am hoping for a reply on alternative means to pay than Visa. Unless I figure it out from the question above. Never had so much trouble buying something. And I just booked another flight to Australia yesterday thinking I was going to take the equipment with me. Again. Sigh! (Follow up: I just posted a message to Andy's profile...)
