I want to have around 12 x 3MP IP camera around the place connected to a NVR that I want to have about 2 HDD on 4TB each.
want them to record at least 20FPS each at their 3MP resolution at the same time. one PTZ camera. don't care about POE, would like it on all ports but not necessary if bumps up the cost significantly.
want at least 1 mic input as well.

From what I've seen...

With a non commercial specification nvr .. 12 cams doing what you require will be pushing the limit that a 16ch will comfortably handle
(some retailers say "We recommend a maximum of 12 x 3MP cameras with this NVR.")

So if you don't want to be pushing your luck with more cams at your requirements.. then go for a xx32, or reduce some of the cams resolution

Drop to 15FPS but you are probably still going to be pushing that DVR. I don't have enough experience with Hikvision stuff to tell you how it will work out with your required recording settings.
