Please don't ask why I know this ...

But the simple & cheap answer to restore the cams waterproof rating is to get a flat 29.5mm 'mineral glass watch crystal' (ebay can be a good source) add a bead of silicone to give it a seal, gets one out of trouble.

The IR glass cover looks to be the same size.... just in case, lol

good to know.... this says something about the durability of the rest of the camera as well, assuming you have tested and it is still working.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Forum Fiend v1.3.

That's what I like about the new turret cams is the all metal construction..

After retrieving the cam and plugging it back in, it worked 100% (much to my surprise).... so I stopped shouting obscenities, wailing and gnashing my teeth.

Metal is good stuff, glass isn't...

Ha! I watched someone that will remain unnamed drop a Hik bullet 29 feet onto large decorative gravel a few weeks back. That too worked perfectly fine, not one bit of harm and it's working great. :D

For the record I was only holding the ladder on this specific cameras install, I hear a "look out!" and the smack in the gravel at about the same time lol.

I have had my fair share of 'bad luck' - but that is why I use my AmEx card to pay for everything. Their 90 day accidental damage protection sure comes in handy... like the time my wife dropped her two weak old smartphone and cracked the screen

I feel cheated that I didn't get a bouncy one. At least it still works. Couldn't pull up "29.5mm glass watch crystal" on ebay, looking elsewhere....
EDIT - NOW I see them....
