Got a Dahua IP camera and NVR - wanting to access video away from home network.
Looks like VPN is best way.
UK user on VirginMedia so stuck with their router.
Thinking of getting a Raspberry Pi and installing PiVPN or similar.
Is this the best way?
Where does the RPi sit - I have router>POE Switch>extra switch in loft. ( can it go up there?)
Thinking of running pihole as well.

your thoughts/experiences please.

cheers

I am running that setup without any problems. Raspberry pi 3,with raspbian pihole and pivpn. Can access the ip camera and nvr fine. As my ISP does not provide a free static ip I am using a free ddns account.

With pivpn you still need to fordward a port in your router. I don’t know if I would do that ;)

Considering you have to forward a port, does that make the PIVPN unsecure? If so, why have the PIVPN in the first place?
