used dvr with password lock / need to unlock for use

I bought an hikvision dvr model ds-7208hghi-sh with 2 cams, from a guy closing out his computer shop. he said all it needs is a hard drive.

I have not put a hard drive in the dvr yet, but i did plug the dvr into a monitor and the dvr is password locked !

How do i unlock the dvr to use it?

Worth trying would be the original default passwords of admin/12345 and admin/123456789abc

And you might get lucky with the original version of the password reset tool here : Hikvision camera admin password reset tool
The new version is for backdoor-exploitable cameras.
