I ordered the Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI PTZ network camera and can't wait to try it out! Does someone have this camera and can tell me how the quality and performance is? Maybe some pictures or a link to a uploaded Youtube video?

Hello,

I received the camera very quickly.
The camera is huge, a bit heavy and feels like a professional camera for sure.

The webinterface works with:
- Google Chrome and NACL Web Plug-in (NACL Web Plug-in). The Web Plug-in loads in another seemless window and can't be started without opening Google Chrome first.
- Internet Explorer / web-plugin, there are problems with set-up rules/presets (The picture is not alligned and I can't draw lines).
- Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) version 52 (Firefox Extended Support Release for Your Organization, Business, Enterprise)
- Oracle VM VirtualBox and virtual machine 'IE11 on Win7 (x86)' (Oracle VM VirtualBox and Free Virtual Machines from IE8 to MS Edge - Microsoft Edge Development)"

Only with VirtualBox and Firefox ESR the webinterface fully works, the most convenient is Firefox ESR.

The camera comes with a power adapter and has support for PoE+. I didn't tested the PoE+ part because I don't have a POE+ (802.3at) switch yet.

I let the camera record video's to my NAS via FTP on my private subnet.
I setup IVS with some Tripwire and Intrusion rules and it auto tracks movements. The only thing is if the object comes to close to the camera it won't follow the object anymore. I think the IVS is working a lot better with a NVR.
Another problem is that the camera makes in idle some noise and a lot of noise between presets. I let Andy know and he is in contact with the manufacturer to hopefully solve this problem with a newer firmware.
A bit more explanation; if the camera auto tracks an object and loses it then it turns back to a default preset. When turning back to the default preset it does this very fast and that makes a lot of noise. If I could set-up that the camera won't turn that fast the noise would a lot more reduced.

The video's at night are very nice to see, it's almost like it's day. I thought that without infrared the starlight would kick in but when I turn the infrared off the video's are not as good.

I update this later...let me know if you have any question...

The camera hangs outside so I don't hear the buzzing. If the noise I hear is normal then I need an other camera :p

Hi djartistic,

I did notice the weight when initially looking at the specs and at 20lbs, it did make an impression on me (as it would for anyone the camera happened to fall on as well!)

Thanks for the prompt(and detailed) reply, I was delayed in responding because I have been pretty involved in other parts of the system I am trying to prop up... we are in a rural setting dealing with some pretty bad actors that I can't get the police to do much about. I just bought two of the IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E cameras from Andy's Amazon storefront, got them quickly and have them set up.

The web ui flakiness per browser does not completely shock me but I can't say that comes from working with Dahua hardware since it is new to me, it is helpful that you shared your experience on that.

For me the cost of the SD6CE245U-HNI PTZ stings but it is probably the right fit for my needs (starting at the consumer bundle NVR level was... in a word: disappointing), probably in the next two or three days I can decide whether to order or not but for now it is all about peace orders and visits from the local gendarmes. :^O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Best,
PIT
