Hi everyone

I'm looking for a camera for a small lodge without internet access.

It should have the following features:

- basic or medium level
- internal storage (e.g. SD card slot)
- indoor (but it could be rather cold or hot)
- day and night
- no fancy features needed as no internet access
- an external motion detector is available - this should trigger the camera -> alarm input needed
- because of external motion detector camera doesn't need any detection features

What could you recommend?

Thanks.

Regards,
Armin

I have installed several Amcrest IPM-721 (rebranded Dahua) indoor cams over the last 3 years for 2 clients and they have been very reliable.
These are 720p, PT/digital zoom, IR for night, have built-in microphone & speaker plus jacks for external, have alarm input and output and slot for SD card, wireless or wired Ethernet. They have been dependable and flexible for $50 here.

There is a 1080p version, the IP2M-841, for $10 more here, but I have not used it. Reviews state that it has alarm input/output but Amcrest user manual oddly depicts no alarm in/out on the rear of cam, may be a typo.

I just talked to a Amcrest Sales Agent and he confirmed that none of their cameras can be armed/disarmed from an external source...

OK, many thanks. Let me explain a little bit more in detail: I have an external motion detector which is only active if a door is locked. If the detector signals motion I would like to start recording... At the end I would like to have something like an external "start recording" and "stop" button.

Something like this?

The "STOP" button is N.C., the others are N.O., all are momentary.

Well, not yet ;-) This can be achieved using Amcrest IPM-721, correct?
Yes, IPM-721 has alarm in/out and is 720p. I know for a fact it has that I/O, at least this one does.

The IP2M-841 has higher res at 1080p and pretty sure it's supposed to have the I/O as well but I've seen conflicting documentation. I tend to believe it does have the I/O and the literature was wrong but I cannot guarantee that...you'd have to contact the vendor or purchase where you know it can be returned (like amazon).

EDIT 4/1/21: V3 of the IP2M-841 does NOT provide relay I/O nor jacks for an external mic and speaker.
