Old man winter has finally cut us a little slack.

All settings except time and channel name set at defaults.
I seem to see a little bit of aberrations in the picture. Will see how it does at night focusing, as it has issue's in daylight beyond 9-10 zoom.
I had some special assistants this time.
Hopefully night vids tomorrow.

Night Videos
Videos are lit, from one 4 watt IR illuminator, and from the SD59225U-HNI on the roof.
You can definitely see the reflection issue's that are always mentioned around here, from the dome on this cam.

@looney2ns You have this new camera next to a Dahua turret in your initial pics.

Depending on the turret model, the size impression can be different.

Can you label your pic with the turret model?

@looney2ns...in your opinion could this camera be vertically mounted on an inside wall and still have the PTZ function adequately? (mounted as shown as shown in the image below?)...

This camera is much bigger than the normal turret or dome one. It has a powerful lens and support starlight.
I understand that Andy...but to my question...could this camera be vertically mounted on an inside wall and still have the PTZ function adequately?

Any idea what these sell for?
I believe the Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI) reviewed on this board was selling for 320 bucks.
It has 25 x zoom and auto tracking like the SD59225U-HNI

I am not sure how prices after a nice review on this board go up?

I have played with a few PTZ mounting options and found that it has to either mount under something (eve) or sit flat on top of something (think ledge). If you have it on a wall as depicted or at an angle the PTZ controls get goofy and it’s near impossible to track moving objects.

When it’s on a wall you may get up/down behavior. But when you try to go left/right it will rotate the image clockwise/counterclockwise instead. They just aren’t designed for that scenario. Unless there is some trick I’m not aware of..

Thank you so much for your opinion @th182...it's precisely what I needed to understand. Thumbsmiley20.gif

The problem I have it that if I use any of the standard PTZ mounting options the camera is going to be ripped off the wall and destroyed by a forklift driver moving crates in my warehouse. The current Dome I've mounted as shown in post #8 has survived for several years.

@looney2ns After you install, can you let us know how noisy this camera is when moving around?

...especially versus Review-Dahua SD1A203T-GN Starlight Mini PTZ (which is quiet)

In other words, if a pedestrian was 1-2ft away from this PTZ, will he notice the noise it makes as it pan/tilt/zoom?
Playing with this on my desk. It is virtually silent.
Even when set at it's highest pan tilt speed.

View attachment 38139
Mechanically it seems it would be just fine. I was wrong, both motors use belt drive.
As @th182 points out, the video will tilt as you pan left or right if mounted on a wall. It's like taking a landscape picture and turning it to portrait. No way to correct that.
It would work, if that view situation suites your needs.
