I never owned a surveillance system before. I recently had one installed and getting familiar with it. It's has an NVR. You can't speak through the camera, you can listen. I tried connecting a stereo speaker to the out jack on the back of the NVR. You can hear the voices outside if you stand next to the camera. The voices are very low. I'm wondering what type of speakers if any would raise the volume for the voice. I was thinking computer speakers. I thought maybe there was a speaker designed for an NVR. The NVR also has a HDMI connection on the back. I was also thinking maybe I could use the HDMI connection for a sound bar.
Any recommendations are appreciated.

Idk NVRs but check your manual for the NVR it will probably say if that’s a speaker or headphone jack (big difference), but you might also be able to use amplified speakers (these are commonly used for computer systems as well).

Go pickup a cheap set at the local Goodwill for $2 if you don’t have a set handy.

Thank you for your reply. The speaker jacks and headphone jacks look different. The speaker and headphone jacks have that double black line on them and are shaped differently than audio jacks. I looked up the model number of the NVR on line and it it says audio jack. The installer didn't leave me the manual. I texted him that question about adding a speaker to the system. He didn't answer. I guess he just wants to do the installation part of it. I ordered a y splitter that will accept a computer speaker jack. The other ends accepts the audio connection. I'll try my computers speakers, if they work I will get another pair of computer speakers. It would be nice to find a pair of speakers for $2.00 even $5.00 is OK.
Thanks for your help.

Bitch to him that he didn't leave the manual. What exact NVR do you have, the manual probably can be found online.
Call him, don't text.
Take a picture of the all the connections and post here.

I am having a hard time posting a picture from my phone to this site. I may have to download my phone pictures to my computer and post through my computer.
In the meantime I order and received the connection to put my computer speakers into. I didn't order the audio coupler to run the audio wire back to the NVR. I just ordered it. Probably will take @ a week. I'll posts the results.
Thank you.

Use the snipping tool in Windows, not a cell phone, to get screen captures.

I hooked my computer speakers to the NVR after getting all the connections. It works greats. The speakers I connected have a bass speaker too. I don't need that much quality for speakers. I'll get a cheap pair of speakers now that I know computer speakers will work. Don't waste your money on a new set of speakers
You get more mileage from a cheap pair of sneakers"
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways
It's still rock and roll to me.
Thanks for your help.
