How to View IP Camera on a TV

Hi Everyone,

So I have a 32 ch NVR with IP Cameras that are ONVIF compliant at my business. The NVR has two outputs (VGA and HDMI) but they output simultaneously. So the monitor in my office would display the same image on the TV at the retail space. I was wondering if there is a solution that can display a grid view of certain IP cameras on the TV regardless of NVR.

Hi Arizona,
this topic has been covered couple of times on the forum, but it may be good to have a recap topic on this subject.

You have different options:
- either you have a smartTV, which is able to hook up over your network towards the NVR (may require additional apps depending on the brand of your TV)
- either you make your TV "smart" (eg put an android "media player") on it and install an app like TinyCam / gDMSS on it
- either you make your TV "smarter" (eg put a Shield on it: SHIELD TV ) - then the sky is the limit and you can even play games on it.
- either you put a low-end (disk-less) same-brand NVR at the TV, and let it simply walk through the channels on the "other" NVR

So tons of options, all with their own advantages and disadvantages. Price to be one important parameter for sure

Hi,

Thank you so much. There’s an app called IP cam viewer on Roku devices. You can set up most IP cameras on there and view them real time. If your cameras are ONVIF complaint then it super easy. There’s a basic version that free so you can test you camera. If it works then the full version is only 5 dollars.So far it’s great. If you want to save money and space buy a Roku TV so it’s all in one device.
