I am constantly getting intermittent crashes of SmartPSS in Windows 10 x64 on several PCs.
Have updated to latest windows updates and makes no difference.(was crashing prior to updates)
I have tried several laptops and desktops and seems not very reliable at all to use for constant viewing.
A bit disappointing considering i spent some money on Dahua cameras 2 x IPC-HFW1831E (latest firmware) and Dahua Nvr ->Dahua NVR4108-8P-4KS2 (latest firmware from this here)

I have SmartPSS downloaded and installed from Dahua Wiki (SmartPSS 2.02.7)

Anyone have SmartPSS running reliably without the app crashing constantly.

Try downloading it directly from the Dahua toolbox instead:
Software/Dahua Toolbox - Dahua Wiki

That is more updated version in the tool box vs the wiki.

I am not sure if they might've updated it on the wiki. In past the toolbox had a new version and wiki an older one.

Actually tried to open it - i had an older model 2.02.1 installed and it didn't crash windows but it the app it self crashed. It was just flashing pictures of getting started with SmartPSS and unable to click anything so had to end task.

How is your app crashing? Can you see video or do anything before crashing? In my case it just 'froze' meaning I could not click to make it do anything but the banner photos of getting started for some reason were flashing.

It closes itself.

Uninstall SmartPSS and download latest version directly from Dahua https://dahuawiki.com/images/Software/SmartPSS/General_SMARTPSS-Win32_ChnEng_IS_V2.002.0000007.0.R.181023.zip
Might be your anti virus causing issues, try temporarily turning it off.
Also check windows event viewer around the same time it crashes on all the computers and see what was going on at that time.
Make sure you uninstall any Lorex or Flir software since they may conflict with the software.
I can only uninstall toolbox - no smartPSS to uninstall. Would downloading that replace it?

Running setup on a new download/version will over write the old one.

tried to update to teh latest version on x64 (i already had an older 32 version), everything looked great even though now i had 2 smartpss in program files and programfiles (x86) folders respectively, ran the new one, looked OK until i started turning on a few cams an realised it wasnt working, clicked a cam and realsie the new smartpss has completely wiped out all username/password section for all cams, decided to not use it, tried to run my old smartpss, realised that the issue was now on that one too, what kind of a shitty software is this?, uninstalled the new one hooping it would fix the issue, but it didn't, instead now i can't even run the old one cause it keeps crashing with a BEX error related to "MSVCR80.dll" .. i made a mistake of not creating a restore point before doing this and now i'm efed, tried installing and repairing visualc+++ 2008 redistributable, didn't work either :( .. HELP?

This happens to me every few days. It's not all that hard for me to restart it except for having to remember to delete the IvsPic directory so it doesn't fill the C: drive with snapshots. smartPss is full of bugs distributed all ove the place. I'm using v2.003.0000001.0 on win7. Overall I like it better than the 32-bit version, even though the 32-bit version was more stable.

There is your problem, you are on Windows 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10 it’s free. After you upgrade do a clean install (format the hard drive). I use SmartPSS and it works well besides the random closure of the app once in a while. Old versions of the app especially with old OS you will have a lot of issues.

the issue wasn't there until i decided to update to a newer version and i have had that version since it came out in mid 2018 and has worked great on 8.1, not sure why its reading the wrong msvcr80 module instead of the one it should be , i have limited data in my country so i can't afford to update to win10 which "self updates" every other day, i would rollback to win7 if i could, even after i updated and stared the new smartpss, and tried logging into cameras, it didn't work cause when i clicked on each of the 10 cameras i was watching, no username or password section, its like it removed that information and just kept the ip, thus why i tried to use the older version but the bug somehow affected the older version as well, tried uninstalling the newer version but now the bug persisted on the older version as well, luckily i imported the list before i updated so i have an .xml of the cams but the issue was there so i was forced to remove both versiosn adn did a clean install after reboot on the odler version and now i get the error i mentioned above ... please NEVER tell me to update to win10 as any solution, that OS has more issues for every program than win8.1 . this is a mscvcr80 error, i tried installing the related 2008 'redistributable files' again but nothing ...

You are wrong, I work in IT and Windows 10 is the the most stable OS ever made by Microsoft. The issue you are having is user error because you refuse to upgrade your OS.

I'm on Windows 10 version 2004 and with SmartPss x64 version 2.003.00001.0 and have almost no issues besides what I mentioned above.

i had no issues with the older smartpss until i updated to a newer version , nothing wrong with win8.1, i work in IT too and basically no one here uses win10, most still use win7 and win8.1.. the issue isn't win8.1 but net framework which uses the visual studio files, i just need someone to tell me how to force smartpss to use the other winsxs version of msvcr800...i googled the one that keeps crashing it, it has issues..i also want to know if smartppss saves files elsewhere apart form the main program files folder cause i have cleaned the registry off it before i re-installed but still the issues persists.."upgrade to win10" is an American thing to say where data is cheap and speed is even better, we here are lucky to get 5mbps on a good day or be able to afford 10gb a month.

I just need someone to tell me how to force Smartpss to read whats in its .manifest which calls for "8.0.50727.762" to be used instead of "8.0.50727.8428" triedn uninstalling 8428 but its not possible and i'm not sure which programs might be using that.. smartpss.exe has its own msvcr80's in its own folder, why is it executing one in WinSxs? registry issue? some hidden setting /.config file i'm not aware of?

What's you version? I'm running 64-bit v2.003.0000001.0, 4-13-2020 on win7 and as I posted further up, it generally goes for about a week at a time before going belly up.
