Sealing soffit and camera base

I have my cameras mounted under my soffits with a 2x8 backer. My question is, do you guys seal the hole that the Cat 5 runs through, or the base of the camera to keep insects and spiders from making nests? The hole in the soffit to the attic concerns me more. Or is it not really a big deal? Pic is enclosed, and I didn’t use junction boxes. I did a straight drop to the camera. And yes, I know it’s time for some soffit cleaning

I have 1 camera that is mounted where a crease is, all I did was shove some steelwool up in behind.

I suggest you stuff some Ductseal around the pigtail entering the attic, that should discourage some bugs, especially mud daubers.

I'd try a ball of it about the size of a ping pong ball, push the pigtail halfway into the duct seal, fold around pigtail, push pigtail with ductseal into hole....you can't really use too much.

A one pound brick at HD or Lowes is like $3.
