Just installed this camera Today, I think it looks great :) , But more importantly is how it works (especially Auto-Tracking for me).
I've only just started playing with the settings, but thought I'd post this clip of the Auto-Tracking, because I think it is EXCELLENT :):).

IVS rules set to Human, notice how it sees the cars but does not react to them .
This is Just a short clip, but I have been back and forth round the garden like a headless chicken , Neighbours must think I'm a right Nutcase

Excuse my Attire, Finished work and wanted to get this cam up before it pissed it down again.

Thankyou @EMPIRETECANDY for recommending this camera to me.
Oh man that is awesome. If you get a chance can you let me know if you see anything wrong with my config? I have the IVS rule set to human now I believe. Does not seem mine is working at all at the moment.

hi @Philip Gonzales , I have Video detection Off, Smart motion detection Off. Set Pre-set one in PTZ control to Home and save.
Then the following settings.
Screenshot (51).png Screenshot (52).png Screenshot (50).png

Can't remember doing anything else (will update if I notice anything else).
Hope this Helps, if not, maybe Re-set cam and start over?

And I think this example is even better, Me running about in the rain. Maybe my Neighbours are right ? I am Mad :screwy:

IR set to smart IR, other than that setting all at standard
Sweet,

I found the upgraded firmware at the link below, did not fix issue.

I'm going to assume I did something wrong on initial setup and default the cam and try again.

Bummer still no luck here. I have reset to default and also have done a factory default as well. I created a preset called home and then went to event and enabled a Deep IVS smart plan, then created The following intrusion rule.

Rule1.jpg

I tried setting the checkboxes just like yours and it didn't appear to matter so I enabled send email to see if anything comes through but nada.

The only other thing I can think of at this point is trying a reset via the hardware reset button. I can get manual tracking to work via the live view but not auto tracking.

Did a hard reset and still no luck. I even tried a different location with different rules. OK, I give up for now lol. This auto tracking kicked my butt. Maybe it doesn't like my location since it is pretty darn close . Sidewalk.jpg

Couple of quick snaps from Blue Iris mobile app.
Still debating on forced color vs Black and white. I'm thinking forced color. Even though on one side of the car it looks pretty dark, my carport light further away illuminates anyone's face that is in that area. Maybe some more lighting would be good to add also. I'm just renting so maybe not. Set the cam to shutter priority and going to see how it goes over the next few days.
I'll post some videos when I get some free time.

Smart IR seems to be working from what I can tell.

Open to any opinions.

Hi @Philip Gonzales. Just remembered, when I first set a tripwire auto-tracking did not work. So I must have changed a few settings, because next I tried a simple rectangle intrusion box (which works better on my other PTZ), then I tried a random shape as already shown.
Sorry, but I can't remember exactly which settings I changed.
I don't want to reset to default and start over to see what did it, because its working great at the moment. I did look through the various settings again and noticed I had video recording in H264 , smart codec off. In smart plan I've added a new plan "Home" and select IVS, Schedule recording All for All times/days, and I probably re-booted my NVR.
All settings where made directly on cam web browser.
My cameras are all poe to NVR.
You probably tried all this, and I don't know if some of the above will make any difference, Just trying to help. :)

Thanks, scheduled recording for Record and Snapshot is enabled 24x7 for General, Motion, and Alarm for me. Holiday tab was not touched. I was using H264B, but I have now switched it to H264. No NVR here, I use Blue Iris. I've tried with the camera removed from Blue Iris and rebooting the Cam and no luck.

I'll keep playing around with trying to create different rules and if all else fails I'll give it a couple of kicks and see if I can't get it going.

It's funny because Auto Tracking was a feature I did not care about, but now that it is not working I want to get it working. It bothers me that it does not appear to be working at all. If it tracked for a little while and then did a poor job at auto tracking I would be happy that at least the feature was working.

Anyone, not really a big deal to me so I'll just keep tinkering and hope it starts working for me.

Thanks again for your tips.

So something appears inherently wrong here.

I enabled IVS on another cam that I have ( IPC-HDW5231R-Z) and although it is not a PTZ, I got it setup right away and firing off emails when I crossed the tripwire.

I noticed in your video @Steveee and on my 5231 that green boxes follow the motion of anything moving around. I also noticed a box that changes colors appears around me when I cross the rule, as well as the rule flashes red or something like that.

On my PTZ, none of this happens. It's like it isn't seeing any motion at all compared to my 5231.

I have already done a factory default and a hard default via the button. I can try that again but I am running out of ideas here.

@EMPIRETECANDY sorry to bug you but any ideas on this? Anything you can think of?

Sorry, but I know nothing about BI. You'd be better asking Looney2ns or Other more experienced people on here.

But I can say This cam is GREAT at Auto tracking for me. Works perfect 95% of the time for me with NVR, so probably just a communication error?
Well the thing is auto tracking should still work in the cam itself. I don't think any of the IVS stuff is compatible with Blue Iris but I think auto tracking should still work within the camera web interface and blue iris would just record whatever the cam sees.

@looney2ns any idea why IVS is not picking up any motion on live view/playback and no email alert is fired, etc?

I was able to setup IVS on my 5231 and I see all the expected behavior (squares around motion, flashing ivs rule, email alert from tripwire/intrusion, etc).

I've factory defaulted the camera twice now and one hard reset. All I see is the IVS rules in blue but it's like the cam doesn't see any motion, although regular motion alerts do work if I enable them. Period is set for the rules for 24x7.

What exactly did you select on the "Smart Plan" tab? Screen shot please.

I have selected Preset 1:Driveway. I have setup multiple presets and have tried different presets too with no luck.

SmartPlan.jpg

I have tried both tripwire and intrusion. I disabled Alarm Track just now to see if I could at least get an email to fire. Like I said it works on the 5231 just fine as far as triggering an email. SMTP setup is correct as I am able to get regular video detection motion alerts (currently set to off). I have not been able to set off IVS even one time on this PTZ lol.

Rule1.jpg
Rule2.jpg
Rule3.jpg

Anyway, any help is appreciated. I may try a hard reset again but not sure how that would help at this point. I have factory defaulted and left everything else default except for PTZ preset 1, smart plan, and 1 rule and nothing....

Sorry man, I've got nothing.
Ok, thank you. I'll go ahead and hard reset it again, like 3 times in a row just in case. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm crazy as I have this bad boy right above my carport lol. Maybe I'll try terminating the cable again. I doubt any of that will work but I find it hard to believe it would be a hardware defect if regular motion detection works. But what do I know. Lol.

@Philip Gonzales maybe it's a power problem, try a different Lan cable, injector/switch. PTZ camera would probably pull more amps than a 5321. I'm certainly not an expert with IP Cameras, but I know modern cars, electrics can behave oddly if power supply insufficient. High resistant joint? voltage will show ok until you put a load on it. Just a thought !

If after trying everything else still no joy :banghead: , Pm me screen shots of All settings(Don't want to fill this thread up) and when I get time I'll go through them one by one to see what differences with my settings if any?

OK. Had this camera up for a few days now. I bought This PTZ mainly for the Auto-Tracking capabilities. So for anybody thinking of buying one? Interested for the Auto-Tracking:-
I originally said it was excellent 95% of the time, and it was that evening (As shown in previous videos)..
However, next day it didn't perform to the same excellent standard (Don't get me wrong, It was still Very Good most of the time), It always picked me up to start with, but I had a few more times where it then lost me.
So depends on your definition of excellent?
So some video clips showing what I mean.

Not so Good, Daytime example.

OK, Night time example. Picks me up and Tracks, but loses me by car

I find it depends on what clothing is been worn, speed of target entering IVS areas, and daylight conditions all affect auto-tracking quality.

Very Good, But not perfect, Daytime example. Notice how Camera picks me up, then loses me, but then picks me up again and tracks.

Excellent, Nightime example. I seem to get more excellent videos that pick me up and track for correct amount of time at night.

All these videos are with picture conditions at standard except smart IR enabled. So I will try setting different profiles for Day and Night, Adjusting settings, to try and make tracking easier. I definitely seem to get more excellent videos at Night.

So I DO Still think this camera is Excellent at Auto-Tracking, but maybe not 95% of the time yet.
GREAT camera, and I'm still very happy with it. :)
