Not too sure I understand what you mean but I think the problem I had might have been a result me doing the update whilst the cams where in night mode. Over the course of the next day and night transition they seemed to have sorted themselves out.
Okay good to know.

Is this update for the IPC-HDBW4231FP-AS also?
You only list IPC-HDBW4231F-AS .

Thank You

It looks like the transition from night to day to night has sorted out the over blown night time problem I was having. Checked last night and this morning and everything is fine and as sharp as it was previously.

Still intrigued by 2 of my cams not auto restarting when set to default and why IE is now asking to install a plugin which it never did with the previous version.
Use HTML5 supported browser like Chrome or Firefox to avoid the plugin.

Worked like a charm on IPC-HDW5831R-ZE. HTML5 video is working without plugin

The only missing part for Dahua firmware is separate storage destinations for record and snapshot (like Hikvision)

What is the substream RSTP URI for IPC-HDW5831R-ZE?

/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0 returns 404

nvm

/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1&unicast=true&proto=Onvif with onvif user credentials

updates worked for me on :
IPC-HFW5231E-Z5
and
IPC-HDW5231R-Z
I haven't run it on a IPC-HDW5231R-ZE yet.

@EMPIRETECANDY is there an update coming for the IPC-HFW8232E-Z for the same vulnerabilities or does this vulnerability only affect this very specific set of cams firmware ?

Device Type IPC-HDW5231R-ZE

System Version V2.800.0000013.0.R, Build Date: 2019-12-02

WEB Version V3.2.1.825578

ONVIF Version 16.12(V2.4.3.822559)

I installed this update on one of my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE without factory resetting (or restoring to defaults). After the install I did two software factory resets. The only two negative symptoms I'm having:

1) When in Camera > Conditions I can no longer double click the camera image to make the image full screen (I could do this with 2.622.0000000.31.R, Build Date: 2018-08-13 )

2) The same image loads a few seconds slower when accessing those settings.

Anyone seeing similar symptoms? Did I accomplish the firmware upgrade correctly?

Can someone briefly explain the logo/no-logo difference? Where should I see or not see a logo? (2017 model HFW5231 Z5)

I took this to mean a Dauha logo on the Camera or inside the already existing firmware. My camera, a IPC-HDW5231R-Z , purchased from Andy, had no visible logos anywhere. I went with the no logo firmware version and am back up and running with the new version. Zero issues. First time I've ever flashed the firmware on this camera. Flashed via web gui.

I don't remember seeing any logos on the camera but the Web UI has a Dahua logo on the top left of the screen.

It’s just the logo in the web GUI, that should be the only difference. I always go for the one with the logo, force of habit I suppose.

I downloaded the logo version and did the upgrade by selecting file under system -> upgrade within web interface. Everything seemed fine and it said upgrade complete/success but the camera wont come back. I can access POE switch that feeds in attic and unplugged and plugged back. Nothing. Can't open web interface. Shows no signal in BlueIris. I can't do ping command to IP address from my Desktop cmd line. Its a 2 person job for me to remove from sofit and test it on my desk. And I got no one until next 48hours. Any quick help? I did upgrade the same way last time and it came back but wouldn't let me change anything from web interface. So I ended up buying BlueIris to control. But it worked until I did upgrade just now. I wish this was simpler. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you reset to factory default? Try 192.168.1.108
Also, if you changed the port, try 192.168.1.108:xxx (xxx=port number)

You mean before upgrade? No. I didn't. I will try this ip address. What is the default port number. I can't recall

Default is port http, so browsing to 192.168.1.108 should do fine.

If not, install ConfigTool (part of the dahua toolbox), let it scan your whole network, and it should pop up eventually. If all fails: factory reset the cam with the builtin switch/button.

Good luck!

IPC-HDW5231R-Z This is the model number. Looks like i need to take it off and reset it. Can't find using config tool. But it's possible 108 address is taken by another client on my router. I will identify that and disconnect to see if the camera will pop up

I took down the camera from soffit. Opened it. Located reset button and pressed it. And connected to computer directly via a working Ethernet cable. Nothing shows in config. I tried reset while connected to power. I used a 12v power plug to connect. I paused antivirus and allowed config in windows defender. Still no. What am i doing wrong? While camera and computer are connected via cable, I tried while on wifi and without wifi. My subnet is 192.168.1.x and I verified 108 is available. Did I brick the Camera? That would be a sad ending to 2019.
