hi,.. I've been wanting to get a few Wifi cameras since i cannot direct wire to them and have them on BlueIris. I have been reading and have seen a few reports
of the Wifi camera's losing the connection after a power outage, then having to set it up again to get them working.

Is there a solution to this issue?
Do all Wifi Camera's have this issue.

thanks for the help..

Although I suggest wired is more dependable than wireless, I do have 2 in a non-critical application and understand they can fulfill a need where folks absolutely, positively can NOT install wired (like an apartment or rented house).

That being said, the two Amcrest IP2M-841's that I use have been given static IP's (one for the wired Ethernet port and a different one for the wireless) and not DHCP and have no problems with power outages....and we have them OFTEN here. If set for DHCP and there's an outage they may wind up being assigned IP's by the router that are different from what Blue Iris is looking for. This can happen when other devices that power up (tablets, smartphones, smart TV's, printers, etc.) are set also to DHCP and get IP's before your cams do.

Log into each cam and assign unique, static IP's that are OUTSIDE of the router's DHCP pool; in other words, if router's DHCP pool is 192.168.1.2 to .49 or 192.168. 1.49 to .99, use 192.168.1.200 to .254 for your cameras. If you do that, you do not have to make IP reservations in the router.

EDIT: I see your post on another thread regarding power outages and your Blue Iris PC. The Blue Iris server PC should ALSO be assigned a unique static IP and of course, be on a UPS (and any POE switches as well) as pointed out by @SouthernYankee and @JNDATHP .
