Has anyone any idea why the ONVIF events just keep rising, even though no pir event.

Cheers
Could it be that the DB is registering all motion events weather or not it is adequate enough to set off an actual detection or not?
"regardless of, your detection settings/sensitivity settings"
For example every time a leaf twitches, and, etc.

Hi Phatboyj,

Thanks for reply and welcome.

Having read the "power section" of 101, I knew I would be underpowered when getting to fit a chime / bell. Always an optimist, I had hoped the existing transformer would power it as a bell. I will have a 24v 1A source next week for a loan in a few days while I try to source something more powerful - all seem in short supply at the moment.

My router is about 20 feet (6m) from the bell and gives me about -50dBm according to inSSIDer. Moving it closer might work for testing but would not be a long term solution. I have managed to borrow an "extender" and will see if that helps.

Thanks again for help - will let you know how I get on.

All this is sorted now, not to sure how i did it myself but its doing exactly what i want it to do, which is when the doorbell detects motion it tell BI and then not only do i get the Ezviz/Hik notification on my phone but i also get a notification through BI but that one includes an image, unlike the Ez/Hi ones.

If anyone is struggling with this setup i may be able to help them, but cannot do a write up because i am not sure what i did anyway, but it works bang on now.

Cheers

Like I thought, you can do it via ONVIF, but through SOAP.

From an ONVIF FAQ: ONVIF Technical FAQ - Genius Vision

ONVIF specifications:

Via ONVIF, through SOAP you can access those settings. The problem is how to use SOAP through curl. :)

I just searched SOAP and Curl commands and it looks like its do able, but looks way above my pay grade.

Just had another look and would be good if someone with a lot more know how than me could have a look and explain in English how to do it.

Cheers

Can use curl through http, but not much comes back.

You can definately use SOAP with cURL to "talk" to the doorbell. I have tried it but I cant get pass the user authentication part. The doorbell is running a few couple of seconds behind the RTC, even though it is sync with a NTP server. This has created an authentication error in Onvif. I do not have the same issue with other Hikvision IP cameras btw. One has to use the getSystemDateAndTime function to retrieve the doorbell time and add that to the password token. It is more work to code than I currently have time for.

I'm sorry for all these problems, hopefully you'll manage to solve them in future.
Don't be sorry. I've got my DB1 working as intended, and that good enough for me.
Sure, experimenting mostly results in trouble but that how we learn and keeps us busy ;) .

DB2 flyer = "DB1 battery-only" version ? I thought it was DB1 (AC/DC power) plus a battery. That would've been interesting. If it's ONLY battery, I don't like it.
According to this site the DB2 uses a 6400 mAh Li battery or can be fed with 8-24 VAC but has only 2.4 GHz wifi (which doesn't have to be a problem).

I wonder how long that battery will last. According to the site it consumes a max. of 4 W (DB1: 5 W). That 6400 mAh will probably be at 3.6 V (Li-ion) which would make it a 23 W battery. That will not last 6 hours at max. power consumption.
My guess it can't record continuously (over wifi) like the DB1 or it will need that external 8-24 VAC.

Seems kind of bulky (DB1 width and thickness dimension times 1.5) and has no interchangeable face-plates. Like the kind of see trough look.

OK, as an update, I have managed to configure the borrowed extender - Netgear EX6120 - and reset the DB1 to use this. While still using the 12vac1A PSU (until I get uprated...) I am delighted to say that the bell has not gone offline once in the last six hours - hopefully not famous last words! Note that there is no indoor bell in use - I will look at that when everything is stable.....
I got caught out by the extender changing the IP address of the camera.... and hence spent a while wondering why BI could not find it! Once I have told BI the relevant IP address, put in user and password, a find / inspect found the rtsp stream and I can view the feed! Have left the DB1 set to maximum sensitivity for the moment and am using the motion detection on BI.
So a much happier camper than 48 hours ago.....

Sage doorbell sensor, i tried to follow the instructions earlier in this thread but no joy, i have managed to pair and set up a device handler but get lost when trying to do the smart app part, the link to the post is good but the info is 5yr old and not sure if it is still relevant.

Can someone point me in right direction.

Cheers

Sorted now

YW and let us know how it turned out for you.
Well as mentioned previously I couldn't craft a mount out of shims due to my specialty siding. Not only was it double Dutch lap,but apparently the siding projections are different between brands (1/2”, 5/8” 3/4” etc) So finding someone with my similar siding was less likely.
I asked around, and turns out my buddy had a small 3d printer. So I started taking measurements of the siding, the wedge mount , etc and began crafting up a model. I went through a few revision and then sent him the STL file. He got it printed out for me in about 4 hours. It could still use a few small tweaks, but I'm good with it, and the wife was super impressed, so I've got her approval.
One tip for anyone in my situation. A lot of public libraries will do 3d printing for you if you send them the file. I did the math and it would have cost me just under 5 bucks to have it printed there (too bad they're closed for Covid)Also I used a free web app called tinkercad. It's a dumbed down 3d modeling tool, and not much of a learning curve to it. It probably took me 3 hours to design.

Got the Ezviz and been running over a week with no problems, but i wanted the onvif for BI alerts so moved firmware to HIK, went without any problems apart from after a few hours it looses contact with the app (Ezviz app), the wifi connection is still good, BI still shows it, can see it in onvif, batch, ivms all exept the Ezviz app the app still shows full wifi but will not show any live video nor do any notifications come through, if i log out then back in it want me to reconfigure wifi settings which becomes problematic because its on wrong firmware, i can sort wifi out with ivms. Should i try another onvif firmware or is it something else.

I used the Hik firmware because i believe it has more onvif options than LaView, such as pullpoint.

Also the date stamp seems to go corrupt after this time too, the 0 becomes separated.

Cheers

Did you do a full reset and then follow the procedure to change the ssid after updating to Hik fw @alexdelprete confirmed that it is necessary to do the full reset
to avoid such hiccups when using a non native fw

Will try again this morning and report, have found the correct procedure, will make sure to follow.

Cheers

Done again but same problem, app works for about an hour or so then goes offline, can see everywhere else just not in app, will try another onvif firm to see if same problem.

Edit, put La on, see how that goes

Power issues or network issues. If you solved the network problem, concentrate on power issues, what power supply are you using?

Well I put the La firm on and seems ok ish, now instead of loosing wifi, it resets the lan address to .101, which is an easy workaround in BI, but yes I am looking at replacing the psi I currently have a 16v 10va one so will go up to 30va which seems to be the norm.

on a side note I got the sage d sens and have got it onto my smart things, I have that paired to my echo, but stuck on how to get the echo to chime when the db is pressed, the sm/tgs is picking up events from the sage, but cannot get last bit sorted.

fix the power, it is the main cause of all strange issues. Hikvision fw works very well.

I use the SAGE sensor, with Hubitat. After SAGE sends notification to Hubitat, I simply use a Hubitat addon (Echo Speaks) to tell all echos in the house to announce that someone is at the gate, and I let the Aeotec 6 Siren chime. Works flawlessly.
If you see the SAGE notification in ST, the doorbell and SAGE have done their work.

Really nice job. I love the "theme" of your house, great combination of colors. :)

We just installed one of these (the Hikvision version), and I'm having a few minor issues that I'm wondering if anyone has any input on:

1. It beeps anytime it detects motion. Is there anyway to disable that?
2. The volume is a bit loud. I tried adjusting it in iVMS 4200, but neither the Volume nor Output Volume slider seem to do anything.
3. The video quality is fairly low. It's set to h.264, variable bitrate, 2048 kpbs (which seems to be the highest possible), 20 fps, 60 for i-frame interval. I've tried messing with the settings, but haven't been able to get any major improvement.
4. Is there a way to set separate shutter speed for day and night?
5. In iVMS, some fields sometimes show up and sometimes don't. For example, right now I don't see the CCD settings, or the "Other Alarm" settings (for PIR). If I quit and relaunch iVMS, often one or both of those start showing up, until the next relaunch.

And a couple of questions specific to using it with Synology Surveillance Station:

1. Is there any way to enable 2 way audio? I have it added as a generic ONVIF device, and that doesn't seem to be an option.
2. Same for PIR. That doesn't show up as a detectable event in Surveillance Station.
