I just purchased an A119v3 to replace an A119 that got old and started acting funny. The video on the V3 is MUCH better than the older dashcam. Especially at night. One problem is it takes a long time for the GPS information to actually show up on the video. Sometimes a few minutes of driving. This feature established the speed in an accident investigation so I want it working reliably. The older model would start to capture the information within 1/2 block of travel. I could not find a setting in the menu that could have any likely effect. The installation is in the exact same spot and uses the new V3 GPS module. I am going to try to power it through the GPS instead of directly to the A119v3 and see if that makes a difference.
Any other ideas?

Thanks
John

You might have gotten a bad one. I have both flavors. The older A119 and the V3. If the GPS has been powered anytime recently, it's got lock within seconds. If it's overnight, it takes maybe a minute. GPS symbol goes green when it has lock. How long does it take to go green? My prior job, I parked in an underground deck under the building. It had lock by the time I got to the corner leaving.

I’ve also got a V3 and have never noticed that it takes a long time to lock, might monitor it next time I go out.

Where have you got it mounted and does your car have a heated windscreen?

I had issues with the A119v2 but the v3 has been rock solid for me. Never use the GPS though. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another V3.
