Hi All,

Had a lightning strike that tripped the breaker supplying my HIKVISION DS-7608NI-E2/8P.

All of the POE ports are now dead, i.e. no lights blinking. Have checked the cameras and they work independently of the NVR. Disassembled the NVR and see no obvious damage.

There really isn't much inside these. Was hoping there might be a supplier for the circuit boards, as the unit isn't that old. Or if anyone could offer other tips to look for the problem, I'd appreciate it.


 
Forgot to mention, the unit powers on just fine, goes through the full boot process with no problems, just won't display live view cameras.
 
If you have other method to power all your camera like a stand alone PoE switch, try plugging the NVR LAN port into the switch and see if it detects the cameras again.

POE board may be fried but the main board could be okay still.
 
Try a factory reset as well so you know your staring from point a, all settings like the internal poe ips addresses are back to 192.168.254.1-8
sad as an eight port poe switch you will lose one via the nvr to the switch if your running eight cameras if less your ok

do you have a multimeter is there any voltage on the red-white wires if not trace back to the power supply box open that up see if there are any fuses in there that have blown too

I recently swapped out the PoE board for a spare I had (from a bricked NVR, I first bought the chinese edition, then the English) and it's working great. IT was real easy to do as well, as you probably realise. So, proof of concept.

If you can get a camera powered, maybe with a 12v supply, and wire it to the LAN instead of the NVR PoE port, you can at least confirm that the main functions of the NVR operate normally, before going to the cost of buying a POE switch.
 
After testing, I'd rather replace the POE board than use a POE switch.

But, Does anyone know if there is a supplier for these particular POE boards?
 
I will try and source one for you tomorrow? It may mean that we take it out of a faulty unit where the POE switch is fine.

If not it still may be a viable option to just buy a POE switch and will save a lot of hassle sourcing one.

Hi Tony didn't manage to look for one for you today was at a wedding all day. To be honest it will cost about £30.00 for shipment to USA will it really be worth it?

Hi Jamil. Probably not. I appreciate the thought and will continue to try to find one locally...

Is there a part number associated with it? That might help...

Does the NVR still operate OK?
Can you power a camera externally, connect it to the LAN and change it's IP address to match?
Then in the NVR web GUI Camera Management, change the channel to Manual from Plug&Play and change the IP address to that of the camera and see if it connects.

If so, maybe put the cameras on a PoE switch instead and reconfigure all the NVR IP address settings for the cameras to their LAN addresses.
