A useful post, nice to do the firmware comparison, it's a question many people will have.
On the email snapshots - something odd there, as I tested it on the 3.3.4 firmware on a 7816N-E2 and it seemed to work OK, though others have stated it doesn't work for them either with 3.3.4

In fact, because of less reliability of basic motion detection, i had never tested this feature on 76xxN-E2 3.3.4.
And now, after further testing email's snaps shots is working in "Basic motion detection" only, as you had stated on 78xxN-E2.
And it's still not in "Smart Event" like line crossing.

what has 3.1.0 got on it that 3.0.8 hasn't? does it allow you to fast forward and reverse at more than 8x ?? does it allow you to record continuously with events marked differently so you can see the difference on the time line? they are the main features I want.

+ features 3.1.0 :
- virtual host
- VCA for Smart Event like line crossing (if camera allow) with email snap-shot
Playback 2x ...8x ok.
No events marked on continuously record, even in 3.3.4 version, but in Hdmi-Vga gui you can operate an log search with alarm event filter, and play video on found alarm with direct link.

The virtual host appeared afterversion 3.0.8. I hope they have not remove it in later versions.
Does the playback 2x-8x speed appear in the NVR native VGA interface or the web gui interface?

so really there is no use me trying to upgrade from 3.0.8 and risk bricking the nvr?? as the newer version haven't got what I want.

-No virtual host in 3.3.2
-1x to 8x by webgui or vga

If you are satisfied with 3.0.8, better keep it.
It's not my case, i need smarts events like line crossing, 3.0.8 lack those features.
Anyway 3.0.8 is useless for me because standard motion detection for outdoor is not reliable.
Despite at delivery my 7616N-E2/8P 3.0.8 show 1 as language region ( it's seem that seller had hacked 3.0.8 firmware to achieve it), I was looking to change firmware that suit my need.
After searching various Hikvision download site there is nowhere to find firmware badging for 76xxN-E2 NVR series.

It sound weird to use 76xxNI-E2 or 78xxN-E2 firmwares for 76xxN-E2 but i decide to give it a try, than it work for me.

- Post #12 in this threads for my camera models.

Now I am happy with US_3.1.0.

Anyway if you are willing to try another version, here below the steps:

1-/
I don't remember at first on the NVR if 3.0.8 it's english only or Multi language. One could verified at login page with language choice list.
If it is, normally you can try to upgrade to 3.1.0 us firmware (it's only English) by webgui, without language flag modified regards to region hack by seller (can be verified with command line "GetHardInfo" by mean of telnet).
- If webgui upgrade report error because of language mismatch - you have to modified 3.1.0 lang-flag to 2 using @whoislooking Hiktools and retry.

-2/
If original 3.0.8 is not Multilanguage do the same operation as paragraph 1.

-3/
If upgrading is successful but chinese only, don't worry, NVR can be reverse by using tftpserv recovery tool
Must recover with euro Multi-lang 76xxNI-E2 3.0.10.
Then webgui upgrade again to 3.1.0 with modified lang flag to 2.

Note: for some reasons euro 3.3.4_150616 corrupt the NVR (recovery possible by tftpserv)

Actually I am quite interested on smart events, since I want then to connect the CCTV system to the old alarm, so cross line detection is something that I would like to have.
For this reason I am thinking to give a try, but I am still not confident to have fully understand all the steps.
-on point 2, seems that the procedure is the same as point 1, isn't it? I guess it is missing the case of if the NVR is multilanguage.
-on point 3, when you say "Must recover with euro Multi-lang 76xxNI-E2 3.0.10."is that valid also in case the NVR is just english (and no multi-lang)????

Sorry for all those questions, but I don't want to risk to brick the NVR

When escape from seller's 3.0.8 the NVR will expose Chinese origin, only risk, but have to be confirmed, future compatibility with camera.
But until now all my 3 models Chinese cameras with 5.2.5 multilang hack firmware are all good with NVR 3.0.8 origin or upgrade one.

Thank to @wzhik great hiktools turning non Chinese firmware to an use-able on Chinese stuff.
Chinese NVR "talk" multilange firmware because it's does include chinese., and upgrade process by webgui maintain this.

Hikvision tftpserv is a recovery tool, NVR will restart in a like factory new with compatible firmware (altered by Hiktools) - if not just just try with another one and so on, despite advice from Hik that newest as undowngradable.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier.. I have the 7608NI-E2 that came with 3.0.8 and just recently UPGRADED to 3.3.4 and then DOWNGRADED back to 3.1.0.. what a hassle. Here are my findings (notable stuff I remember) which will hopefully save others from going through the same thing:

v3.3.4 - Pros
-Bumps the incoming bandwidth from 50Mbps to 80Mbps
-On-screen keyboard/number input is more responsive
-New section in NVR for searching smart events specifically (behavior, face detection, people counting, heat map)
-Lots of options for playback (Normal, Smart, Event) on NVR -> this was in 3.0.8 as well
-Supports h.264+ if your camera does
-The drawn motion detection area is the same on NVR and web-interface
-Complete smart event configuration on NVR so you don't have to go into the camera interface for this
-Max bit-rate recommended gives a range instead of a single number
-Beautiful new web user-interface

v3.3.4 - Cons
-Missing advanced image configuration settings on NVR (WDR, Smart IR, etc..)
-Email alerts for smart events have no attached picture, but they do indicate the type (intrusion, line crossing, etc..)
-Push notifications not working
-No telnet
-Ugly NVR user-interface (vs. 3.0.8, personal opinion)
-Motion detection does not highlight the areas where movement occurs

v3.1.0 - Pros
-Complete image configuration on NVR (WDR, Smart IR, etc..) so you don't need to go into camera interface for this
-Support smart events
-Email alerts for smart events with attached picture
-Push notifications support
-Telnet support
-Virtual-host support

v3.1.0 - Cons
-Missing everything from "v3.3.4 - Pros"
-Email alerts for smart events do not indicate the type (intrusion, line crossing, etc..), its all "Smart Detection"
-No push notifications for smart events
-Ugly NVR user-interface (vs. 3.0.8, personal opinion)

I am very likely missing stuff, but IMO, 3.1.0 > 3.3.4 > 3.0.8. Hope this helps!

To be honest, after all those comments, I gave up and I have not upgraded my NVR. 3.0.8 is working just fine and I don't want to brick it, expecially because it is located not where I live and I do need to work remotely on it... Anyway Hikvision have to improve a lot on making firmware upgrades stable and symple...

Hope someone can help me on this:
I have 4x 2332 model exir dome(V5.2.5 build 141201 , coding version V5.0 build 140714 )
connected to the chinese 7604n-e1 poe model nvr
with fw: 3.0.10 build 141126. I have tried all, but somehow neither the Ip camera-nvr not sending me push notifications.. The box is checked, on my Phone alarm is enabled ( latest application version ) But no. It isnt sending anything. The strange thing is, i can receiving E-mail with smart events.
I have also tried on original hikvision nvr, same model . but different fw: 3.3.1 build 150422// exactly the same problem. No push. I have spent over 8 hours on this, im getting crazy now. Can someone give me the solution?
