This is the sort of night time Image I get from the 49225xa via the Auto tracking. I can actually make it a lot smoother not much noise by taking the sharpness down a little and turning the sharpness CNT up around 10 but then you loose a little detail and I can always edit the clip afterwards if needed to do that in video software.

I can do but pointless as the amount of fine tuning will all depend on your location and light. Always make sure you turn off ROI to.

I am lucky I have a street lamp outside but not many in the street to be honest and pretty dark outside even though it looks bright.

kInda all depends on location, what you're wanting to track, and the use case, but for an avg homeowner, yeah I think 12-14+ is a good height. This one actually sits up on a little hill so its more like 21-22 ft from the surface of the street, and the primary focal point is 75ft away. So someone who actually passed their geometry test without cheating could do the math and figure out the angle ;)

..oh and the much awaited Wiper video is up in post #4 :headbang:

Exploring other Features and Capabilities

Ok so lets be honest, the coolest feature of the PTZ is the built-in Windsheild Wiper.
(no its not rain sensor automated, you have to manually tell it to turn on)

....More to come here.....
Can that be operated from the ptz control or do you have to go into a menu? It's a cool feature and yet I've always wondered about the longevity of that. Like will the motor hold up. The wiper blade being in blazing sun. I know it wouldn't be used much at all but I wonder. Now if it could spritz wiper fluid too that would raise an eyebrow, lol. These blades have been common on cheap ptz cameras too but I figure the motor is cheaper too.

I do have the wiper, I am more worried about dust settling on camera lens and when I use wiper without cleaning it to get micro scratches from that So I rarely use my wiper When I say am expecting a rain or rain season I usually get up on the ladder give everything a good clean wipe before using the wiper.

I have not figured out how to use Wiper yet from Blueiris but I have triggered it off-course thru the camera itself :)

Yes you can activate from the ptz control on mine, I use SmartPSS to view live and you can do it from there also with 2 clicks

only and the Rumble play
This auto tracking is way superior than the First gens I think I have the 4/3 PTz even that almost always looses the subject behind the tree.. This one kind of predicted and kept following Absolutely amazing thank you for sharing!

So I'm still struggling with trying to make this PTZ serve dual purpose at night as well as it does in daytime (which is excellent), but I'm finding the limits of the 1/2.8" sensor coupled with 4MP just isnt up to the task.

Let me be clear, if you don't need it to do LPR AND something else at night in B&W with IR it's awesome. I'm really stretching the capabilities wanting BOTH LPR at night (via help from a spotter cam) AND overview human coverage. Thats simply not possible at night with any camera using IR due to the very different exposure settings needed for LPR and Overview.

But, I have found an option I'm playing with keeping it in color at night and achieving both.

Now I've found at night in color one needs a minimum of 1/120 exposure. Problem is this camera 4MP/coupled with the 1/2,8" sensor just isnt up to the task in most lighting conditions for color at night, (wish I had the night lighting @ljw2k has)

But by playing with Gain and iris controls, I'm getting closer... its noisy, but well, adequate.
I really need the same camera with the 1/18" sensor Andy referenced above which is really what is needed for good nighttime color 4MP video IMHO

Overview
It has a hard time focusing with 1/120 exposure in my weak lighting conditions, but eventually gets a 'good enough" lock

LPR
And because of the streetlight, I can get 90% on LPR on exiting vehicles. Noisy, but adequate

Which results in these two money shots
