Lots of great info on selecting hardware for a BI system, but I'm not finding much information on software/Windows optimization for a new BI install. On the BI website it recommends Windows 10 64-bit. Great, but is Pro for Workstations or Pro better than Home for BI? Any recommended Windows options to turn off or on? Do any of the github performance-enhancing scripts help? Or maybe software/Windows optimization really doesn't matter as much as having good hardware. Oh, and any must-have third party apps? Thanks!

A couple of things that may help
Not sure about any scripts etc i havnt looked into that myself so cant help you there
Windows 10 pro is better for disabling automatic updates that keep restarting your pc and for remote desktop if needed
Get a good backup going incase something goes wrong
BItools is great for ddns, watchdog, weather among other things
I personally find AI Tool and deepstack a great add on to filter out false alerts

I tend to install using the Microsoft media creation tool, only install the software I need, remove any Windows apps that I’ll never need or use then disable windows updates and services. Which services will depend on your use case but things like telephony, fax, gaming etc
I mean...come on now...gotta keep minesweeper :)
