I have GAIN CONTROL setting on mine , is this what you mean?

That looks like gain to me! I know in the comparison thread of older cams comparing the Dahua and Hik, there was no gain and the Hik was always brighter for comparable settings unless the Dahua was gained up.

Exactly! We here try to give people all the information so that they can make their own opinion. Last thing the camera vendors of the world need are people buying great cameras and using them at the wrong location and returning - that drives the prices up for all of us. A great camera can be used in the wrong location. Lorex in the right situation can be great.

My one neighbor mentioned they were going to get a Lorex and I discussed with them the pros and cons and showed them my images and said if you want to cover this location 50 feet from your house, the Lorex isn't it. If you want to cover that location within 15 feet of your house, the Lorex will be fine. They went with the Lorex because they are only concerned about the immediate 10 feet around the doors and windows. It is perfect for that installation. Now if they wanted to capture and ID people at the sidewalk at the street, that would be a different camera!
Don't worry, I have repurposed one of the 2 opened cameras to the back already, the chickens are safe tonight and theirs 3 motion led flood lights in that area that will help it out if anything is detected :)

I only have the 2.8mm Version now as Sold my 4mm but I'm sure it had the Gain control the same as the 4mm.
What company did you purchase your camera's? @Nite-Owl

Sorry everyone, I think I might have figured this, I looked at the screen shot and it had stuff like playback on the top that mine did not. I believe I need to install the plugin and these missing items might appear, I am now madly trying to find a spare laptop to do this on, report back soon.

Sorry, thought I was on to something. Installed plugin and now have Playback and Picture in Menu at top which I did not have before but still no Gain, weird.com :(

I can only think that something I have on or off makes this option not available or 4mm does not have this option, but I doubt they remove just for 4mm etc. Just checked out the one without firmware update and no option on that either.

I mean it wouldn't surprise me if they eliminated the option to control gain IF they were getting too many complaints from people saying "hey I thought this thing worked in the dark and don't need light and all I have is a dark image". Upping the gain can certainly brighten a static image...they wouldn't be the first camera to not allow the ability to control gain so that the image is nice and bright....and we know many just accept ghosting and blur based on the popularity of Rings, Nest, Arlos, Reolinks, etc...:p

Or maybe the removed it from the cameras they sent to @Night-Owl as they assumed by that username that he was fine with NightOwl camera quality:p

I have just unboxed my 4mm version after carefully boxing it to go to it's next owner but I can confirm the 4mm does not come with Gain Control only my 2.8mm lens has this option.

Probably, just the luck I get. Let's compare firmware versions I have v5.5.160 build 210209 and v5.5.154 build 200928 on my cameras.
