I mean it wouldn't surprise me if they eliminated the option to control gain
IF they were getting too many complaints from people saying "hey I thought this thing worked in the dark and don't need light and all I have is a dark image". Upping the gain can certainly brighten a static image...they wouldn't be the first camera to not allow the ability to control gain so that the image is nice and bright....and we know many just accept ghosting and blur based on the popularity of Rings, Nest, Arlos, Reolinks, etc...
Or maybe the removed it from the cameras they sent to
