Here we go again. What a time consuming process this has been with prior focus issues and waiting 6 weeks for a replacement. My replacement PTZ does not detect the SD card.

So far, I tried:

  • Disconnected power for 5 minutes. No good
  • Remove sd card, test in PC, works fine.
  • Format card and reinsert. No good
  • Format a different card and install. No good.
  • Restore Factory settings. No good.
  • Hard reset at camera, pressing and holding the pcb button for a short bit. (15 sec). No good.

How is it being powered? POE+ switch or POE+ injector?

I recently had an issue with another camera where it wasn't seeing an SD card, so I took it off the switch and put it on an injector and I could then see the SD card. I have found many of these cameras to be extremely touchy on the slightest issues. Not a lot of tolerance range on electrical issues.

Switch... Important to realize that the only thing that changed in the system is the camera. Same switch, same card, same Firmware, tried original firmware too, same everything.

The attachment to the board is a tad ugly in my opinion. Must have been manufactured at 4pm Friday, its Miller time!

*** IMPORTANT! ** That Sandisk card is not the one in it. It is currently a Samsung EVO 128.

I have two of the same camera and one has an issue on the switch and the other one doesn't. Like anything, there are tolerances of what they accept and I think they are so tight within the spec that some will work fine and some won't if the electric is right on the cusp of what the tolerance is.

With that said, that does appear whacked out - looks like maybe the card isn't seating properly - hopefully it is just a bend it back? Or did soldering or circuitry get messed up?

Not looking to do any mods since I just received this. Just looks like a sloppy solder job. 1 or more of the pins may possibly not be soldered on the board contact, not sure but no card is recognized and I have some Pro cards of different brands and none are recognized. They all work in multiple card readers so it is the camera. Hopefully, @EMPIRETECANDY will answer my email soon. Sent an email Saturday and haven't heard back yet. Not a big rush but would like to review what is going on with my IVS rules. It is a huge help to see what is actually going on.

You threw me off with the username change @FlipNJ should have prefaced it with 'the artist formally known as......' ;)
  • What format are you using on the card(s), FAT 32, ExFAT, NTFS etc ?
  • Has this shown any signs of access (read/write) at all on this unit when testing with the cards ?
  • You mentioned IVS rule checking, are you seeing issues with those or are you just wanting to review caps and currently can't ?
If you do want to review how those (IVS rules) are working currently, where are you sending the stream today (BI, NVR etc) ? Not knowing what you currently have available (and if its even needed as you may have it covered), could always send the output to FTP destination or even SmartPSS for specific rule checking against recording in the interim. If you need any assistance with those or want me to take a look at the cam just reach out, happy to help.

Hey man! Sorry about the confusion with the name change. Just didn't think any part of my actual name was that smart.

Format: I took the card out of the returned 49225 and put it into the replacement 49225. I left the card alone and figured it would work. So, no formatting was done from the start. After noticing by going through the settings that the Local Storage had nothing listed and the little popup banner displayed "No SD Card!", I attempted to Format it in camera. Of course that wouldn't work because the camera simply does not see a card installed. Removed the card, popped it into my windows machine and explored the card. All the files were there and no problem with the card. (Samsung Pro Endurance 128G BTW). I can't remember what format I used but I believe exfat.

Signs of access: No.

IVS Rules: I had posted about a pole causing issues with the auto tracking and I use the Playback files to see what has occurred. Without files stored on the SD card, there is nothing to playback. I still review the same information but have to watch it as it happens in the Live tab. The stream (Sub disabled) goes to BI. I was putzing around with attempting to send captures to be saved somewhere else besides the card, like on the BI server PC but didn't spend much time on it. I am either going to get this working, or just deal with it since Andy replied and said to ship it back. I appreciate his willingness and good service but I am not going 6 weeks without it again. It is also getting expensive to ship cameras every month. The SD card reader not working is not that big of a deal and I got this thing working extremely well so it's staying on the wall. By mentioning card format, I will try formatting to a different format and see what happens. I doubt that is the issue since the old camera and new camera have the same FW version and the same card was never reformatted. But who knows? Totally forgot about Smart PSS.

Thanks for replying and offering help, I greatly appreciate your time.
The FTP part I am a little confused about. To setup on a local PC, in the same network, how is it done?
