I have motion notification configured but there are many false alarms ... I just want a reliable backup in the cloud in the form of a photo / email. Can it be configured?

Intelligent human detection, not just any movement in the image.

Yes, you need to make sure that you have Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection OFF. Just use IVS rules.

Access the NVR GUI by going to a computer and opening up a browser (preferably Internet Explorer) and type in the IP address of the NVR and login that way. Next go into the camera settings page on the NVR and look for the Microsoft e Web Browser and select it and it will go to the camera GUI (photo credit bigredfish from his PSA thread). Your screen may look a little different to get into the camera gui and see if doing it this way gets you access to some other features the NVR is blocking - do not worry about the Port number and circle as that was from another issue someone posted.

Simply select the blue IE icon and it will go to the camera GUI and from there you can set the camera parameters.

Yes, but how do I get him to send pictures of the event? I need images to email.

@bigredfish what email-providers have you got this working with?

I've tried to set it up with Gmail a few times over the years but always failed.
Set up Gmail with a third-party email client - Google Workspace Admin Help

@Peachs an alternative instead of emails is FTP. I use FTP to backup snapshots for several cameras, also for remote locations. IMO that's better for backup reasons.

I don't understand why it doesn't send emails with photo, with MD it never fails. (I have disabled MD and deleted all emails).

Try checking the “Record” box.

Is the NVR recording IVS events?

Are the cameras plugged into the NVR internal PoE ports? If so, the cameras can’t send out to the Internet so the NVR sends the email, so you have to setup smtp on the NVR.

I have had this working for many years on different NVR’s at different locations.

I do understand there are some settings you must make on Gmail to allow “less secure apps”.

Im guessing the other issue is the NVR us sending but for some reason Gmail is filtering the email as spam.

But if it’s working for MD it should work for IVS.

I will try checking "Record Box". All cameras are connected with POE, and the email is well configured, as it works without errors with MD.

The cameras record "regular", not IVS, as they record 24/7 independently of detection.

I don't want duplicate recordings, just 24/7 local + IVS with photo report to email as external backup.

You MUST record IVS events as well as 24/7. It won’t hurt a thing.
Thus way you can also go to the timeline on playback and easily spot the IVS events.

You must enable IVS recording in the NVR for that channel and for all times (24:7) you wish to see IVS events and get emails.

To fill in what @bigredfish is saying you should do it like this.
These pictures are from the NVR.

In the Record Schedule you need to include Intelligent (IVS-rules), this is by default off.

Schedule for Snapshot.
I saw in your settings above that you had enabled Snapshot in the Record mode. If you still have the default General schedule, it will save a snapshot every 1-6 seconds no matter motion or not, and you probably don't want that. Instead use this schedule.

Ok. Then enable "record".

And... Enable IVS recording.

But... Does it record twice on the hard disk and take up more space or not?

I don't understand the final part. Do you mean I should disable this?

If there are pictures saved on the hdd, should I delete them or are they overwritten with the recordings?

No you do t need to delete anything. The HD will overwrite

Yes you still need that. Go to record schedule as @genelit shows. You have to do both settings
