I've been on DHCP residential service since....eh....when AT&T DSL first came out.
However, due to some home business opportunities and a growing need for static IP, I looked into what it takes & costs for a single static IP from Spectrum Charter (or is it Charter Spectrum? I keep forgetting).
$119 a month to create a business account. They can convert residential service to business service account. $19 a month for a single static IP @ 200mb down. Can upgrade to 500mb for $199/month or higher down but I'm actually ok with 200mb down for time being. The monthly business acct can be less than $119 a month but "ONLY" after the installer activates the business modem (there is no self-install for this like regular residential...has to be done by Charter technician). This usually is a $99 fee. But the guy I worked with gave me 1 free month of service which washes out the installation fee. On top of that, once the business modem is activated, I call retention/or marketing to wiggle that # down even further. The person I talked to says usually can scoot that $119/month down to around $79 or $89.
For the record...I am grandfathered into Charter since been with them for a long time. $75/month with 100mb down for 10+ years. So an extra $10 a month for a static IP with 100mb more down...win win for me.
Granted, I do not have 8 children watching/streaming different Netflix, Twitch, Youtube videos that will hog up the bandwidth.

I could of stayed with residential service which the offer would of been $49 for 400mb down (Ultra residential service). But again, due to work and some personal needs, I really want a single static IP and $80/month for today's internet is not too shabby. My allowable $$$ limit for internet + tv is $100. (I do have the mobile phone service, which so far has been great, btw).
Of course, when fiber to home comes available from AT&T or some other vendor...I will re-look at price tags. For now, co-axial is the fastest to my house.

If it’s not too late to cancel and revert to residential, using dynu.com and registering a domain name is much cheaper.

I pay Spectrum 80/mo for 400 down/20 up. Then, using dynu.com which is free and paying 20/year for a domain name, I can always get back to my Spectrum modem. A small program runs on my HomeSeer computer to update the Spectrum IP if and when it changes, which it doesn’t unless you cycle the modem.

while I know there are 3rd party folks out there that can handle (Duck DNS, No-IP, Dynu, etc)... one of my requirements for something business related is no host names but straight IP. I actually was using No-IP for my Home Assistant purposes for awhile and it worked great.

@Holbs - I take it this means you won't have to move like you thought some months back?

If that is the case, time to get the spotter cam action going!

not moving because I still have tons of unfinished Bob Villa DIY house projects! Which reminds me...more retaining wall. Argh. Gots another ton of gravel & another pallet of blocks over the weekend.
but yes...spotter cam is #3 on my to-do list. right now, sick & tired of my amazon firestick (which hosts my UI3) rebooting or timing out to main amazon front page every 24hours. about to slap in a rasberry pi.

My spectrum IP hasn't changed since I got the service. Has yours been changing a lot?

At my previous ISP I kept the same dynamic IP for 10+ years.
and since new static IP coming Saturday... trying to see if this rasberry pi2 can somehow do UI3 duties :)

You can get that monthly figure down "some" by doing a contract with them. That is what I do for my busines with Comcast. We pay about $250/month for TV (which we don't use), two telephone lines, and internet with a static IP. I think it's a three year contract. Last time when the 1st contract expired I wanted to go month-to-month and not re-up the contract. Well they jacked my bill up to about $400/month until they essentially forced me to resign to get the bill back down again.
