With the launch of Arc GPU with quick sync support. How do you think it’s going to change the blue iris game? It definitely will make NVDA gpu a very poor choice and won’t have to worry about patching it for number of streams. I currently have 50+ cameras. And I am very ecstatic at the possibility of even more head room and less tinkering/optimizing.

Currently neither AI option (Deepstack, CodeProject.AI) supports any GPU other than Nvidia.

In addition to above comment, around the time AI was introduced in BI, many here had their system become unstable with hardware acceleration on (even if not using DeepStack or CodeProject). Some have also been fine. I started to see that error when I was using hardware acceleration.

This hits everyone at a different point. Some had their system go wonky immediately, some it was after a specific update, and some still don't have a problem, yet the trend is showing running hardware acceleration will result in a problem at some point.

However, with substreams being introduced, the CPU% needed to offload video to a GPU is more than the CPU% savings seen by offloading to a GPU. Especially after about 12 cameras, the CPU goes up by using a GPU and hardware acceleration.

My CPU % went down by not offloading to a GPU.

It is best to just use the GPU now for AI and use substreams for BI.

But if you aren’t using deep stack etc it could be a great option..
I have 50+ cameras and we are using playback through the web interface. It gets laggy at times.

It could be because they are using Javascript which has to run on the client side first. But there are other things too like using an external javascript program for the date picker called zebra date picker instead of the built in date picker in HTML that runs in the nano seconds instead of milliseconds. I haven't looked thoroughly yet on how the web server side of this program is set up. But there is performance limitations to C# and ASP.net applications. But it is somewhat better than something ran in pure script languages like Python and PHP.

FYI, not ready yet.

Tested out an ARC A380, buggy. Latest drivers, and with any Intel HW acceleration option it performed worse than just full CPU.

While this may be a good GPU, the grammatical errors on the website make me question its performance ability. Quality control is important. Just my 2 cents.
I had not noticed previously, but it is odd. ASRock is pretty well known and has a good history on their motherboard's/gpu's.
Intel produces the chip and outsources other board partners to create GPUs, very similar to the method NVIDIA and AMD do.

Intel does produce their own full GPU's as well, but so far only the A750/A770 I think. The ASRock unit is the only A380 available in the US so far, but other units will likely be available later.

I'm not sure if anyone is going to move away from the tried and tested AMD/Nvidia GPUs unless the price is SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper. It's been a long time since Intel was in the GPU space. They have a lot of catching up to do.
