How well the SMD work on IPC-T2431T-AS S2 ?
Is it accurate as 5442?
With regards of classifying human/vehicle?
just a normal SMD, the 5442 one have more accurate, but we haven't test it. Low budget camera, this one is working great.

I have bought 2 weeks ago at Empire IPC-T2431T-AS 4MP Starlight Wdr Ir Eyeball. The firmware is Version V2.840.0000000.2.R.
I have problems with IVS that not good working and have problems with continuous connection with my PI Raspberry for record This working good with my older Dahua. My question is or the firmware the problem is and what the best way is for solution?
Please start another thread on this subject...

Is there any plans to update the 5842 camera to a larger sensor in the future? From 1/1.8" to something like 1/1.2"? Turret style, IR

Thanks

New one is SD5A425GA-HNR. Anyway which is easier for you to buy. All with fast shipping.

So SD5A425GA-HNR replaces SD5A425XA, has Dahua stopped making SD5A425XA? Is there much difference between them?
I see a few local distributors where I live have listed as SD5A425XA as discontinued.

Yes, with New SMD and better AT function and have web5.0

I just learned that if you have a full color camera like the IPC-Color4K-T 8MP 1/1.2" you can add supplemental IR. In fact it is as good or better than the ones that come with integrated IR.

No you can't- it does not have a movable IR filter, so it can't see infrared like a camera designed for infrared does.

You can put the camera in B/W though but that isn't seeing IR. Some will go to that because they have so little light that the B/W looks better than the color. You can prove it by turning external IR off and on and the image won't appreciably change.

My bad. Didn't know the camera had to have an IR filter to use supplemental light.

No - the IR filter is in place during the day to block all the infrared light so that the sensor wouldn't be blinded and can see color. At night, when you hear a camera click when it goes to B/W that is the IR filter moving off the lens so that it can see infrared.

The difference is for most cameras it is a mechanical moving IR filter, but the full color cameras is a permanent IR filter on the lens. I guess you could take it apart and try to take the filter off LOL.
