It starts to rebuild the moment you start BI again.
With all of the old alerts clips? Because it's not doing that, just new alerts.

Unfortunately, when you delete the DB you lose all of the old alert clips. They are not really clips, but rather pointers to the video file. You still have the video BVR files, but all prior thumbnails and alert pointers are lost.

The few times I have had to delete the DB, I make sure there isn't anything that has happened and I usually wipe the video clean and start fresh. You don't have to do that, but I have found it makes it a little more responsive as the computer isn't trying to write and delete at the same time.

Ok, I misunderstood what was meant by rebuild.

I did rename the original DB to DB_1 and did not delete it, so hopefully if something comes up over the next week that I need to look back through alerts I could rename it back to DB and repair/regen.

When I go to Alerts, there is nothing there but new ones, which I expect.

If I go to New, all of the clips are gone and it is building new ones. Is this normal as well?

I moved DB_1 to the desktop to see if it made a difference. I still have the yellow disk size at the bottom.

It should be showing the older BVR files as well.

File Explorer says the directory is full, but BI is showing no old clips. Only clips that have been created post deleting the DB.

That is strange.

You stopped the BI service before you deleted correct?

I would delete it again.

Nothing new, same issues.

This, kids, is why you don't mess with things.

I am stumped. Not sure what is going on.

Even at 20TB if I don't delete the video files, it rebuilds fairly quickly and shows the correct storage at the bottom of the BI console and shows all the old BVR videos in the all clips section.

You are looking at it from the BI console instead of UI3?

I have repair/regen'd before and it doesn't take long at all. I tried that earlier and it was going super slow, so I stopped it. Should I try again and just let it go to see what happens?

Yea, within the console.

Do you recall how many clips you had down at the bottom of the console before you deleted the DB?

That is up there, but still shouldn't take that long or have the issues you are having.

Do you have a lot of images in the alerts folder?

If so, are they ones you can do without? If so, delete those.

19,000 files 3.30GB

I would say most of them are from the LPRs.

Since it isn't going to show them as thumbnail alerts, consider moving them out and starting over?
