Hi everyone,
I’m currently using a Hikvision system with two Automatic License Plate Capture (LPR) cameras to monitor a busy road. My primary goal is to detect and record the license plates of chronic reckless drivers. While I am getting reliable speed data from a radar system, I only want to keep video recordings of vehicles that exceed a certain speed threshold significantly above the posted limit.
Recently, I read about Hikvision’s Accusense 2.0 technology and its capabilities in vehicle and human detection. This seems like a potential solution to optimize my system by minimizing unnecessary recordings.
Here’s what I’m trying to achieve:
  1. Minimize Recordings: Only record when vehicles or humans are detected, eliminating unnecessary footage of empty scenes or irrelevant objects.
  2. Speed-Based Trigger: Trigger recordings only when the speed of a detected vehicle exceeds a specified threshold.
I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate any insights or advice:
  1. Does Accusense 2.0 solve the problem of minimizing recordings to only cars and humans?
  2. Can Accusense 2.0 work with speed data to trigger recordings only when the speed threshold is met?
  3. Do I need a new set of cameras for Accusense, or can my current deepview-capable Hikvision LPR cameras be configured to achieve this?
  4. Has anyone implemented a similar setup, and if so, what were the results?
I'm keen to make the most of my current equipment but am open to upgrades if necessary. Any guidance or experiences shared would be incredibly valuable.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

1. Yes it does, as long its properly calibrated for scene it will work really good. It does require X amount of pixels(dont have that data atm) for target detection. I would say for 2,8mm lens roughly 20m is the limit where it stops being accurate.

2. Can it work with speed data in the way it has dual check? Like if there is speed detected + vehicle then start recording? By default no, this could be done using Hik-Central and adding linkages between multiple events and action for that, or creating a custom service in any language you would prefer that does that.

3. Hard to tell you never shared you camera model in order for me to check its capabilities.
4.Not really, as i havent had scenes where anything other than vehicles was going above my speed threshold. So i just made recording schedule by Speed alarm. I was running TCP server server which collected radar data + image from vehicle + additional licence plate image. Tbh video was optional and not needed in my case. Afterall not a single hikvision cam is certified to be used as proper radar equipment issuing any speeding tickets. There might be a single model that is close getting certifications needed for that.

@trempa92 Thanks so much for the response. A lot of information to digest here.

The current camera stack is (2) of the following - Hikvision iDS-2CD7A46G0/P-IZHS 2.8-12mm 4mp ANPR LPR

I suppose the DS-7716NI-I4 / 16P wont help me with the vehicle detection/human detection recording only. I read somewhere that I could do that with VCA? Is that accurate?

As to the speed capture, I am using dopler rader, very similar to the Hikvision speed radar model, however that is not avialble in my USA market yet.
I suppose I am also looking to OSD the captured speed as an overlay on the video, however I cannot find reliable information on how to do that.

Yes you can do that with VCA changing to smart events, but you will lose traffic options.

Well if you are using any radar which fetches you information, you could either postprocess video with metadata OR youcould constantly change OSD text via ISAPI PUT/POST requests.

This camera is not designed to be full traffic camera so some options are not available.

This one got more options
