Hi guys my name is steve and new , happy to be here. I've been looking into buying a birdbox ip poe camera from aliexpress but unsure on what focus would be best for a birdbox. the camera comes in 2.8mm,1.6mm,3.6mm and 2.1mm focus. I don't know much about cameras or focus settings.

I'd go with the 3MP 1.6mm, possibly the 2.1mm.
If the 8MP unit's sensor is the same size as the 3MP unit's sensor, then the 3MP will have better low ambient light performance.
At the prices shown, the 8MP's sensor is likely not much larger than the 3MP.
