While it is supposed to work with other browsers, keep in mind to ensure full compatibility, IE is still preferred. And this isn't specific to just Dahua either.

A trusted member here wildcat_1, who works closely with Dahua and gets "under the hood" of the firmware and started this post, said earlier in this thread:

"Not a case of only using IE for testing, it's more the case that this is the only fully compatible browser (until recent deployments) that truly work with Dahua GUI's. As we've all discussed before, other browsers unfortunately (up to Firefox support most recently) cause anomalies in config, maintenance modes, updates etc. All of this reported back to Dahua to tackle in future but while we all await compatibility with wider browser and platform acceptance OR browser agnostic GUI's, this is unfortunately where we're all at."

So while Dahua claims other browsers are supported, someone that looks at the fine details of the firmware, coupled with many users experience here, that Internet Explorer provides the best opportunity to set up the camera and the setting stick.

Doesn't mean you won't have a problem with another browser, but it is rolling the dice.

You can adjust the brightness. The camera doesn't need a lot to be effective. And as I mentioned it is either ON or OFF. It is why we recommend to get a camera with infrared if one doesn't have enough white light or doesn't want to run the white LEDs on all night.

And yes IE is still available:

Open up Notepad and Copy this text below in the blank space and do a save as IE.vbs and make it a shortcut on your desktop and then plain ole Internet Explorer will run again.

CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true

What browser are you using.

This camera is designed for quality image so the LED is either on or off - it is not motion activated as that could cause the camera to get temporarily blinded and then miss the good capture of a perp.
sorry for silly question, but i come from wireless battery operated cameras to this POE camera. so if the camera is always ON and always recording, what is the point of this Motion Detection and AI configs?

The point of motion detection and AI configuration are to alert you for events you want notified on. If you don't care about that then just record with no triggers.

But most of us don't use motion detection and instead rely on AI with IVS rules as it is much more accurate.

But you can set the camera up to only record on motion, although we don't advise doing that.

FWIW, I have two of these covering the same area - one on the left looking diagonally right and the other on the right looking diagonally left.
One is setup with IVS, target filter on, human & vehicle.
The other is setup with SMD targeting human & vehicle.
Event detection is essential equivalent perhaps with a slight nod toward IVS as the SMD camera may miss about 2 or 3 out of 100 events, but the FOV is different so hard to judge.

I am looking to buy this camera. I want it for my footpath. I have a street light and fence lighting. I do not want to use the inbuilt LEDs as they will attract too much attention.

My questions
1. Is the X version better night picture quality than the T ? Some have made this claim.
2. Can the T version be pointed directly forward if mounted on a wall ? Or do I need to buy the "Wall Mount Bracket"
3. Is this the best camera in this price range for ultra low light ? I want it 99% for human detection at night but would not mind playing around with license plate recognition if at all possible.

Note the 3.6mm version of both have a soft/fuzzy focus out to about 6-10ft. Can't speak to the 2.8mm lens. Not as bad as the close focus spec shows IMHO

I have both and give an edge to the bullet as far as focus range and added LED's
Yes, you can point the turret straight out, but I like and use the PFB205W-E
You're not going to do LPR with this camera, and you need 2 cameras regardless to do what you're asking

At night, this camera does NOT have or see IR, so you'll need to run the white spotlight-like LED's all night or have a good amount of exterior white light facing out away from the camera, else you'll end up with a backlit condition and not be able to make out faces.

Because I want to look down a footpath I would much prefer 3.6mm to the wide 2.8mm.
I will abandon my idea of playing with LPR.
I will not ever run the white spot lights. They make the camera too noticeable during the night.

I changed my default settings for my standard IR based Hikvision camera to maximise the colour at night. I have the street light near by and also my fence had spot lights along it, about 2 meters apart. The IR lights are disabled on the camera.

My existing camera (DS-2CD3T45-I5 ) has the following specs:
Sensor Ty pe: 1/3" Progressive Scan CMOS
Effective pixels: 2560 ×1440
Minimum illumination: 0.07Lux @ (F1.2, AGC ON), 0 Lux with IR
0.1 Lux @(F1.4,AGC ON), 0 Lux with IR
Shutter Time: 1/3 sec to 1 / 100,000 sec.

I am hoping the color4k-T will be a lot more clear because of the size of the sensor and the more modern technology.

Attached my existing camera position. It is within my property by about 30 cm from the fence and it looks directly forward across the fence line. The other is the image the camera takes at night with the given ambient light.

Considering purchasing this and another Dahua camera. I currently have a Synology NAS and therefore would like to use surveillance station. Can anyone confirm if you can set up IVS notifications with Synology and this particular camera. E.g. could I set up human/vehicle detection on the camera and have these notifications passed through to surveillance station? If so, what profile should be used - generic Dahua?

IVS works with Synology NAS using "Generic Dahua" with all Dahua cameras I've tried including the 4k-Ts.
Surveillance Station seems a little goofy to me as it appears that IVS events must be "converted" to Motion events. Here is the camera config in SS:

Then in the notification settings (e.g. for email), no Intrusion options are available, only motion events (which work fine as the IVS events seems to be "converted").

Thanks for this. I thought this was the case, but as I couldn't see it explicitly written anywhere, I thought I would ask!

Surveillance station will actually still trigger advanced ivs events, but at the same time motion events are triggered for ivs. So its easier to just get notifications for the motion event.

You can see this happening when looking at the log if you have someone walk through a tripwire.

Does anyone happen to have the firmware V3.140.0000000.2.R.231108 for the IPC-HDBW3849R1-ZAS-PV-S5 Tioc 3.0 version? After the firmware update to the brand new firmware, the two cameras no longer record motion detection. DHI-NVR5208-8P-EI
Did you reset the cameras?

It is just good practice to reset a camera after a firmware update/change. New features are added while other could be removed or changed.
Okay, I have understood. Can I also reset the camera in the menu or do I have to do it directly on the camera? I have another question. What do you think of my Ivs settings? Is there anything I could improve or is it set up well as it is?

You could do either but I would make note of your settings, you could backup your config but sometimes it may not work with the new firmware. I normally reset at the camera, BUT you will have to resetup your camera as if you just installed it. You could try the reset, not factory, in the menu first...
BUT: You mentioned after the firmware upgrade your camera no longer does motion, I would go double check your settings, it could just be a firmware change/addition...

If none of the above works, I would reach out to Andy @EMPIRETECANDY
